HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) - Kyle Roemer scored a career-high 32 points to lead Colgate to a 76-74 win over Lafayette in the first round of the Patriot League tournament Wednesday night.

With the win, the Raiders (17-13) advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2000 and head coach Emmett Davis ties the team's record for career coaching wins with 137.

Kendall Chones added 11 points for the Raiders and grabbed six rebounds. Bilal Abdullah led Lafayette (15-15) with 23 points.

A 17-5 run by Colgate in the final 6:30 of the first half put the Raiders in front 38-31 at the break. Colgate started the second half with an 11-4 run for a 12-point lead at the 16:12 mark.

With the Raiders ahead by 17 points, 74-57, with 6:31 left to play, the Leopards responded with 11 unanswered points to make it 74-68 with 4:19 left on the clock. The Raiders stopped the run with a free throw at 2:48.

Lafayette hit a free throw and forced a pair of Colgate turnovers to stay within four points with just over a minute left. The Leopards got a layup from Abdullah at the 1:06 mark, but Chones hit a free throw for Colgate with 29 seconds left to ice the victory.

Colgate hosts No. 7 seeded Bucknell on Sunday at 2 p.m. In the other semifinal game, top-seeded American hosts Army. The Eagles edged Holy Cross 62-60, while Army defeated Lehigh 64-61 in overtime.
