PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - David Ortiz hasn't completely recovered from a wrist injury that has sidelined him since May 30, but he is happy with his progress so far.
Ortiz walked and grounded into a double play Wednesday night for the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs in his final minor league rehab game. The slugger is expected to rejoin the Boston Red Sox on Friday for a nine-game homestand that begins with a series against the New York Yankees.
Ortiz went 5-for-18 (.278) with three home runs, six RBI and five runs in six games with Triple-A Pawtucket and Portland.
``I'm not going to lie to you. I'm not 100 percent, but I'm close to it,'' Ortiz said before Wednesday night's game. ``I think I am where I would like to be.''
Portland was leading the Connecticut Defenders 2-1 when rain forced officials to suspend the game.
