I think everyone but me loves him. I just hope his leadership role isn't missed... if he had one.
Knowing the Bears, it also came down to the fact that they knew he was going to be moving along in the near future, so why hold onto him & pay him more than someone else?
Given that Rivera took a job as the LB coach in San Diego, I really think he did something to **** off the Bears brass. This is, for all intensive purposes, a demotion. I can't see the Chargers offering more money to a LB coach than the Bears would for a DC. I don't see how this helps further Rivera's head coaching pursuit.

On ESPN's Colin Cowherd's show this morning, a Chicago reporter said that Rivera was never Lovie Smith's choice for DC. He is man was Babich, who he coached with in college. The McCaskey's objected on the grounds that Babich did not have enough NFL experience, and told Smith to keep Rivera until Babich got more seasoning, and then make the change if the still felt that Babich would be better than Rivera.

It is a rebuilding year for the Bears after all. In case you didn't know all teams that lose the Super Bowl suck the next year.
