Shrinkage Down the Backstretch

As advertised, The World's Largest Bathroom was just that. Located just outside the grandstand at Pocono Raceway, it was to be my saving grace during the short rain delay of Sunday's Pennsylvania 500 at the venerable circuit.

Pocono gets a bad rap. It's quirky. At 2.5 miles, it's one of the longer tracks in NASCAR. And it's typical for a driver to get a big lead and hold on for the win without too much "drama" (as in Carl Edwards' win Sunday).

Blowing Chunks

If this weren't so ridiculous, you wouldn't believe me.

Our dog gets into a bag of chocolate covered raisins last night. Not good. Chocolate can be fatal to dogs. Raisins? Worse. He eats both. Talking about six or seven ounces of a previously unopened bag of my favorite candy, i.e., Target's finest chocolate covered raisins left on my daughter's bed, supposedly for daddy on his birthday (today). Dog eats them. Everyone starts freaking the freak out. I'm out gunned three women to me. It's my fault. I shouldn't have left them on my daughter's bed (never mind you didn't know about one of your surprise presents! daddy!)

Kids Stuff

Walking down 17 today, at the tail end of my loop, when I turned toward two of the players in our group. With a 2:30 pm tee time, I knew we'd spend most of our day in the brightest sunshine on the hottest day of the summer. For a caddy who loves the sun and hot weather, I was probably more excited than most. But back to 17. It's now about 6:15 pm. The sun is on the decline now. My favorite part of the day. In the summer, it's the best time of day for me. In fact, it's my favorite time of day during my favorite season. So I turned to these two players and shared my thoughts about just that fact. "I love this time of day. On the golf course, you've spent most of the day outside in the bright summer heat. I love it. It reminds me of what it's like to be a kid again." And their reply? "Me too," they both chimed in. I get it now.

A Different Race

There's an article in today's New York Times which highlights how little has changed, how far human beings have to go, and quite frankly, is an embarassment to me. Go to: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/15/us/politics/15cnd-poll.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin

The article is about a recent poll which shows that there is a "racial division over Obama's candidacy." There isn't much of a point for me to make that isn't articulated more appropriately in the article. This much is apparent: we judge people by the way they look. Think about that for a minute. We act and react based upon how others look. Think about it. It redefines pathos.

Sign on the Dotted Line

Or any-freaking-other-place-any-fan-asks-you-to-sign-no-matter-what it is. I don't care. Tired of the whining about how many fans want autographs and how impossible it is to honor every request and who knows when that autograph will end up on eBay for however much. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. You sign the autograph. PERIOD.

Got it? If that's the downside of your profession, deal with it. Sign it. Don't care. Sign it!
