Initial thoughts | Musings of a SolidStateMind

You know, blogging is a crazy thing. It's like any schmoe can just start spewing, like a drunken bow-head at a Frat mixer. Thus, it's my vow to any of you folks who stumble across these words that are just another tiny buzzing in the chaos of noise that is the blog-o-sphere, I will try to be both concise and relevant. Note that the concise part will likely be hard for me.

That said, let me lay a caveat or two on you: First: I have strong opinions. Usually, if I present them here, they are not going to be knee-jerk opinions, they will be deeply analyzed and long-considered. If you want to comment, include an email and I will contact you to discuss your point of view, but ONLY if your comment is rational and intellegent. 'JOO SUX0RZ B-COZ JOO WNET TO G-ORGIA' need not apply, ok? If I wanted to lower my IQ with banality, I'd turn on daytime television.

Second rule: don't EVER try that "You suck because I go/went to a rival school" argument. (yes, this is a little different from what I just mentioned.) I am an alumnus of the University of Georgia. My wife is an alumna of the same school. My Mother-in-Law is an Alabama fan, and my Step-Father-In-Law is Gamecock alum. My Father-in-Law is a Georgia Tech fan, and I have many relatives that are Auburn and LSU alums/fans. The point? I GET RIVALRIES. Sometimes, one school does better than the other: to wit, UF has pretty much owned UGA in recent memory. Odds being what they are, a hundred or a thousand years in the future, I bet the final standings will be pretty even--- that is, if anyone cares at all. Still, if you try to base your antagonism with me simply on the fact that you attended/are a fan of a different SEC school, I would say to you: GROW UP.

Third item: My father played football professionally. I had football scholarship offers from more than 40 national universities up until I tore 5 ligaments across both my knees in one practice. (And this was in the 80's, when arthroscopic surgery was in its infancy.) Bottom line, given my background, I believe I have more football knowledge than most fans, and in fact, probalby more than everyone but the only child of someone who coaches/coached football as a full-time vocation.

Fourth item: I'm sorry if I scare you by using big words in this blog. I actually talk like that in real life-- and no, I don't use a thesaurus when I compose these posts: I don't have to. Sorry if you can't keep up with that, but I promise you: the bigger your vocabulary, the more opportunity you will have in life.

Well, the cocktails are kicking in, so I'm going to go read a little Peter King rather than focus on this...
