The Raiders lost today, but the tale of the tape is telling.

These were two evenly matched teams. The results were very similar except in a few areas... Turnovers, Penalties and Red Zone Efficiency.
Turnovers:
Raiders - 2
Patriots - 0
Penalties:
Raiders: 9 - 85
Patriots: 5 - 45
Red Zone Efficiency:
Raiders: 2/5 - 40%
Patriots: 3/4 - 75%
I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but the penalties are killing us. Seven penalties for 70 yards in the first half. Two of those were personal fouls by Seymour which contributed specifically to keeping drives alive for the Patriots. I know it's emotional Richard, but I'm sure in hindsight you'd wish for more control.
Campbell was jinxed. CBS, FOX, ESPN and NFL Network all commented on his lack of mistakes thus far. He answers today by throwing two picks. Both of which I bet he will dream about tonight.
And it's hard not to wonder what the final score would be if we were more efficient with the opportunities afforded to us.
It was a tough game vs a tough opponent. The Patriots were the better disciplined team today.

Come on LIHI, the Patriots are one of the elite teams. Raiders played a decent game, no shame in that. BTW, I want some cheesy poofs.

Turnovers and penalties will kill even the best of teams.

The Raiders are not good enough to beat a team like NE unless they play smart, disciplined football, which they did not do yesterday.
Frankly, if two weeks ago you would have told me they would split with NY and NE I would have taken it. We'll get a sense of what the team really is made of when the travel to Houston this week

They did play a decent game. It's just frustrating to watch teams get down the field off of stupid penalties. I think the Raiders had a shot to win the game if they didn't shoot themselves in the foot. That first drive, where the Patriots were about to be pushed back 5 more yards for delay of game but ended up with a first down because of Seymour's roughing the passer call... damn.

Houston will be another test, for sure.

True. So why is it the same story week after week, year after year with the penalties? I honestly don't get it.

I too am somewhat proud of the split - just not in the manner we lost to NE. Rich.....2 personals in the first drive.....you are better than that (or so I thought). Plus, what was Jason thinking when he threw it straight to Chung in the end zone? The Wilfork thing was a fluke. We did put up 500+ yards on NE - they are not the elite team in the conference. That belongs to Baltimore and ......Houston (I cannot believe I just uttered that last word). Let's see how we respond to this week's adversity and what team shows up in Southern TX.

Richard was paid by Brady's model wife before the game.
