Alex Smith's & Jason Campbell's careers.
Both have gone through several different Head Coaches/Offensive Coordinators in what seemed like every new season. Always played with weak offensive lines, no true number one wideouts, maybe just one potentially great tight end. To be fair, the Niners and Redskins did have good runningbacks during their careers, but that's about it on their supporting cast.Defenses have been decent but not overwhelmingly dominating.
Not let's look at Tony Romo's career.
Always had a great supporting cast around him, a true All-Pro number 1 wideout and sometimes decent number 2. A consistent All-Pro tight end and a run of decent runningbacks and offensive lines. Romo has also had the benefit of working under the Tuna, Bill Parcells and his coaching environment has been with him on a more stable basis.
As of now, Campbell and Smith are having better upsides with their current teams while Romo is resembling his childhood idol - Brett Favre. Romo continuelly racks up the fantasy numbers but fails to lead talented Cowboys team. Sure you can place the blame on injuries, but that's what eveery player goes through believe it or not.
You say how can a Head Coach continuelly throw the ball when his team is up by 3 scores? As we have seen, nothing is "safe" in this pass happy league called the NFL. Still you have to execute, and it's up to the Leader to keep your teammates in control and focused. The QB has to the be the "anchor" and as such, the QB is allowed to audible and make certain choices. Execute and there is no excuses.
Bottomline, why the * is Romo still the starter on what has continually been an "OK" several years going run? It's high time the Cowboys give themselves a chance with Stephen McGee. Right now, McGee has a better up-side to his game. Physically he is stronger than Romo and can see better over the line of scrimmage. Before Romo's injury last year the Cowboys went 1-5. We could easily have gone 0-4 this season, but the Cowboys were fortunate enough to overcome 1 individuals mistakes.
All I'm saying is, let's see what we got with Stephen McGee. We don't need a stats aculmulater, what we need with the talent that the Cowboys have is a solid game manager. Who cares about salvaging the regular season, I'd much prefer having the team get into the Super Bowl and we've already seen what Romo can do and has done in the past.
JJ, it's time to let go of this foolishness and move on IMO.

why is romo the starter..... because we have a bonehead owner that is as stubborn as the day is long. and our HC is not a true HC and has to run his ideas by JJ. any other HC would have benched romo after his 2nd INT yesterday if not sooner. after that second one... everyone could clearly see the game slipping away. romo is a good backup at best!
