When I review NFL rosters I notice something confusing and hurtful.  As the NFL does not discriminate, I feel as if they should stop being so specific and let people figure this kind of stuff out for themselves.  What is ‘this kind of stuff’ that I speak of, you might be asking.  Just continue to read.

For example if we look at the Pittsburg Steelers roster we see two players who attended Miami.  But the Miami’s that they’ve attended is different.  Ben Roethlisberger attended Miami of Ohio, while Orien Harris a DT attended the University of Miami.

*Dramatization (reenactment of sorts)

Pittsburg Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger – Miami (OH)

Orien Harris – Miami (FL)

Now that you understand what the problem is, listen up.  The repetition of ‘Miami (FL)’ in almost every roster around the league should be cut down to ‘The U.’

This would do two crucial things:

First nobody would become confused about which Miami the player played for.  It would be clear that they played for the University of Miami by the title ‘The U.’  And vice versa.

Secondly people would finally start being true fans and recognize the importance of The U to the NFL’s success and start calling Miami players, “players from The U.”

Teams rosters, stacked with players from The U, would look like this:

*Dramatization (reenactment of sorts)

Washington Redskins

Clinton Portis – The U

Non-U player A – Ohio State

Buck Ortega – The U

Non-U player B – Florida State

Santana Moss – The U

Non-U player C - Texas

Rocky Mclintosh – The U

Non-U player D - Michigan

Sean Taylor – The U

Now doesn’t that make more sense?

*Note – All dramatizations are done by certified actors (letters in this case) and did not actually inflict harm on their victims (the URL page you are currently on).
