It was a long painful season. I was lucky to attend the opening game, and the final home game, both of which were victories. Opening day was special, it was a MNF game against the division rival Arizona Cardinals, and the commemoration of Bill Walsh Field. The last home game was also special as the last piece of our 94' superbowl, Bryant Young, played his last game, and played valiantly.
Other than those two moments, boy did this year stink. Alex Smith regressed without the tutelage of Norv Turner, and the Hostler offense was just disgusting. Frank Gore had a tough year being the sole focus of opposing defenses, due to the fact we never got any type of passing game going, ever.
Vernon Davis still has yet to live up to his hype, and his constant mouth running. Its fun when you are making plays and scoring TD's, but you are just running your mouth....stop.
Patrick Willis was a wonderful addition to our team and earned the defensive rookie of the year, which was well deserved. He was an absolute BEAST at the middle LB position and is going to be a franchise player for us for many moons. Our defense overall was pretty stout, especially in the beginning of the year, but as the offense just couldnt get it started, they started to fall back a little bit.
Apparently the EVIL Yorks plans to kidnap out team to Santa Clara (WTF?!) have died down as it appears the Government has increased funding for a bill that will allow Hunters Point military base to be cleaned up and have a new stadium built there, which would keep our niners in frisco.
Mike Nolan has been retained for one more year, which Im not against, but not too excited about at the same time. Mike Singletary appears to be one of the prime candidates for a head coaching job, but I hope he stays for at least one more year.
Well, at least the Seahawks are going to lose next week....
