Attention Sports Fans: Divisional Playoff Predictions

Here it is, the greatest weekend in sports. These matchups are the greatest I have ever seen. These truly were the 8 best teams in football this season, and I have never looked foward to a Divisonal Round weekend quite like I have this one. So here are the predictions

Seahawks at Packers

This game is of course the rematch from the 03 wild card game when Matt Hasselback said "We want the ball and we're gonna score" after the overtime coin toss. It will have the Holmgrin vs. Favre storyline, which I think is pretty lame, but anyways, onto the game. The Seahawks looked very good on defense last week, while the offense was very stagnit. I see this one as a semi-shootout, with a good amount of points being scored. What concerns me about Seattle is 1, They have no running game. The draw did work somewhat well last weekend, but they are going to need a lot more than that to win this weekend. 2. They are playing Brett Favre in Lambau. I know that Favre has lost 2 of his last 3 playoff games in Green Bay, but now he has his most talented supporting cast in a longtime. This game will be very close. I see the Packers winning the game with a late score

Packers 27

Seahawks 24

Jaguars at Patriots

Back in early November, when the Patriots were about halfway done with their undefeated run and had just beat the Colts, I kept trying to think of the team that could knock off the Pats. The only team I could think of was Jacksonville. They have the power running game, the possesion quarterback, and the great defense capable of beating the Pats, and I stuck with this pick up until wildcard weekend, until I saw them play against Pittsburgh. Yes they dominated the first half, but their seconday was shredded by Roethlisberger, and the Jags nearly blew an 18 point lead. I truly thought they were going to lose on Saturday. They gutted it out though, and I give them props for that. Now they head off to Foxboro for a meeting against the undefeated New England Patriots. Know that the matchup is here, I feel completely different about this matchup. It is supposed to be mild on Saturday night, and I just cannot get the image of Roethlisberger tearing up that secondary in the second half out of my mind. They will have to rely on their running game to keep Brady, Moss, Welker, and that amazing offense off the field. I like the Pats big here

Patriots 38

Jaguars 21

Chargers at Colts

The defending champs get play their first postseason game since last season when the Chargers come into town coming off a less than impressive win over the Titans in the wildcard round. Phillip Rivers played well in the second half, but that offense has not produced all year. The Chargers have to frequently rely on their talented defense to bail them out of games. The Chargers have the Colts number as of late, as they ended their undefeated run back in 05 and picked Manning off six times in their win last November. While they have won the past two, they were up 23-0 at home against an injury depraved Colts team that had just come off a crushing loss to New England. I know that the regular season really doesn't matter in the playoffs, but the fact that they were a missed 29 yard field goal by Adam Vinateri away from blowing that game is concerning to me. I look for a low scoring game, but I expect Manning and Addai to put up enough offense to advance to the AFC Championship Game

Colts 24

Chargers 10

Giants at Cowboys

The Giants have been very impressive the past two weeks, they were up big against the Patriots and went down to Tampa and completely dominated the Bucs in what I would consider the most impressive performance of the wildcard round. Eli Manning has played well of late, and the Giants seem to be clicking at the right time. I cannot say the same for the Cowboys. For the second straight season they have endured a December swoon, and Romo once again has faded down the stretch. Not only has he struggled, he is injured, as is his favorite targer Terrell Owens. He will be well below 100% this week, and now the Cowboys only viable threat through the air is Jason Witten. I know that I will be seen as the homer of the century, but I am calling a Giants upset here. I think that if Eli could play that well against the #1 ranked pass defense in the league, what could he do against the Cowboys shakey secondary?

Giants 28

Cowboys 24

Please leave your comments about my blog and my picks, and leave any of your predictions as well

My differences are the Seahawks pull the upset and the Cowboys beat the G-men for the THIRD time this year.

I agree with Cass. Romo is due for a good game and Brett is..well..Brett.
