I must say that I am dumbfounded and shocked at the treatment of college football players. As I walked back to my hotel from the Superdome, my friends and I sang OSU fight songs, not to be antagonizing, but to show fellow supporters of how proud we are of our fellow classmates and the effort they put forward this season. We were met by jeers, insults, and were cursed many times by LSU fans. I know not all LSU fans are like that for I met many I liked very much, but when we would explain our actions, we were still met with the same animosity. Worse yet came when I logged onto my computer and was met by the media bashing. I will be the first to admit that the last two championship games have been nothing short of disappointing. but there is a line we must not cross. These are student-athletes, many who are playing for the love of the game. These are my fellow classmates, who are willing to sacrifice more than you can imagine to bring glory to my university. They deserve none of this bashing. I will make no excuse, cite no reason for defeat, or claim some artificial phenomenon. I am merely asking you to stop and think about what you are saying and understand that these words hurt. Report and comment objectively and positively. Instead of bashing the loser, lift up the winner. Promote LSU's win, for the played fantastically. For you never know when the tables will turn and you find yourself in the loser???s corner.

Completely agree. Winning is not a "You're free to act like a jackass" card. Although many, many believe otherwise. Treat people with respect, especially those you disagree with. Everyone will be better for it.

Can we stop the lovefest? The bashing comes from fans like this who run their mouths prior to the contest and then cry afterward. Go ahead and call me names but every action deserves a reaction. I'm against piling on, as well as the next guy, but this level of Big-10 whining has gone to ridicoulous levels. Let it go. PS. Next year, keep your traps shut and maybe, just maybe, it won't come back into your face.

I do not recall running my mouth. And it is people like you who bash me even when I write something that bashes NO ONE, and merely tries to put things in perspective, that are hurting college football.

Lsu 38 - Ohio State 24 That enough perspective for you. Don't worry, Louisiana still loves you. We love all Big 10 teams in Baton Rouge.

Will somebody key those violins please. It's so refreshing to see a Buckeye fan humble. Haven't seen it since last January. Sorry, I'm fresh out of sympathy. Buckeye fans are the most obnoxious fans in the world. Seems the ones on this site have disappeared since Monday night. I guess eating crow is something to be done alone. Words cannot express my happiness. My only regret is that the margin of victory was only 14 points. I was hoping for a 45-10 drubbing. I will except the outcome however, because the game was not nearly as close as the score would indicate. I've never encountered you personally, but certainly you are aware. Someone else commented that Buckeye fans are like Corvette owners. They don't give a damn about any other car or owner unless it's another 'vette. If you were not well received in Louisiana, think about that when the sting wears off. I've been tormented in Columbus for years.

Amen rampage!Hey hllywd I'm still here!5 personal fouls and a dropped td and they are right back in the game. But oh well,we are becoming the Brooklyn Dodgers,Wat till' next year.

Actually, my blog, i realize, gives the wrong idea about the LSU fans. Before the game, they were great, accomidating, polite, and just great fans. But it was like a jekyll and hyde after the game.

January 9, 2008  09:37 PM ET

Good work Rampage. I totally agree with what have you to say

January 9, 2008  10:07 PM ET

Um...jeers and insults. Has anyone been to a game where that doesn't happen to the fans of the losing team. Im sure Buckeye fans yell nothing but warm happy thoughts to Michigan players and fans at the Shoe.

Unless its over the top ugly... throwing bottles, fights etc.. its sports. Fans talk trash the players talk trash including those fellow classmates. I just cant cue the violins for a sympathetic feeling.

My only problem is when the media goes overboard and digs into a college player as an idiot, or coward or such. But fans yelling or saying your team sucks or expletive sucks is fine

OSU has a program that has played in 3 BCS bowls in 6 years, won a national title, beaten its rival in 6 out 7, and is consistently in the top 10 despite losing numberous players each year to the NFL. I think most other schools would do just about anything for that kind of success.

i agree pork^

Its become a joke. Got a link to yet another guy bashing OSU because all the fans were saying OSU is a shoe in for the game.

So I did a search of the blogs and you know what I found? Not 1 single blog saying OSU will repeat. None. Zip. Zilch. I did find half a dozen blogs stating OUS sucks, Big 10 blows, yadda yadda yadda.

My recommendation - zap the comments from your blogs, and if you find it entertaining, trash their comments wil the reality of the facts, otherwise ignore tham.
