In my experiences with throwdowns around half of the people that vote do so without itegrity. Correct me if I am wrong, but a throwdown is a spirited, structured debate between 2 sports fans arguing their position on an agreed upon topic. The way our throwdown system is organized right now is not conducive to the nature of what the throwdown is supposed to be.
I have a potential solution that I think FanNation should consider. First of all do not let members vote until they have checked a ( read ) box indicating they have read that specific arguement. Secondly, you should not be allowed to vote until each member has at least 2 of their 3 arguements posted. You can read the arguements and mark them off as read, but not actually vote until each members has posted 2 of 3 arguements. This system would drastically change, for the better, the integrity of the throwdown system.
Now - To play devils advocate on myself. The only real negative I can forsee is that the total amount of votes cast will decrease. However, these are the votes that tend to ruin the integrity of a great arguement. I think that over time this system would actually increase the amount of throwdown votes because people would be more likely to start a throwdown if they feel confident that the voters are required to read their case before arguing.
To recap short and sweet...
Voters must mark a minimum of 4 arguements as read before you are eligible to cast a vote.
