Winning 6 titles in 8 years can spoil a city. Was there really any drama watching the playoffs when MJ was at the top of his game. I mean Luc Longley, Stacy King and Bill Wennington all have serious bling thanks to His Airness. But Jerry Krause and Jerry Reinsdorf sent Michael, Scottie and Phil packing, and Bulls fans were subjected to some of the worst basketball teams this side of the Washington Generals. 3 years ago things started to change. GM John Paxson began putting together a young athletic team made up of players from winning programs like Duke, UConn and Kansas. 2 years ago the Bulls put together a winning season before losing to the Wizards in the playoffs. Last year saw another first round exit at the hands of the Heat.

This past offseason the Bulls landed the biggest fish in the free agent pool-Ben Wallace. But Wallace didn't bring what the Bulls most needed-a low post scoring threat. When Wallace is on the court, the opponents are guarding 5 on 4. And when the outside shot isn't falling for a perimeter based team, what do you get? Down 3-0 to the hated Pistons, including a colossal collapse at home last night. Where does Paxson go from here? Unless the ping-pong balls bounce luckily and he can land Oden or Durant, he has to make a move. Garnett or Gasol are the obvious answer, but what would it take to pry them loose? Would Minnesota accept Ben Gordon, Ty Thomas and the Bulls first round pick for KG? That would give the Bulls a starting 5 of Heinrich and Duhon at guard, Wallace at center, KG at power forward and Luol Deng at the 3. I'm not sure how that would work salary cap-wise, but it could be a good trade for both teams. The Bulls would be title contenders and the T-Wolves would have three young players to build around. It is a move the Bulls have to make-or they will be a good, not great team with no chance of winning it all.
