This time, the last three years, I and every other Jazz fan had to spend some time doing some serious studying into who the Jazz would draft. That was the only excitement we had in May. Right now, the fans of 22 other teams are studying these mock drafts. Hopefully, we won't have to have the draft be our primary focus until June. But it can be a secondary concern now.

I spent some time tonight surfing the various Mock Draft Web sites to see who they thought the Jazz would pick. The most common response was Thaddeus Young, a forward from Georgia Tech. Personally, I think we need help at a shooting guard; more importantly we need a shooting guard--a guard who can actually shoot the ball. That would make this team deadly. So I hope we can find that. But at 25 (or 27, according to some sites), that may not be a reality and we may have to take the best player available. Ron Lewis seems to be the popular choice for the Jazz to take in the second round.

Possible Jazz picks.

THADDEUS YOUNG, Georgia Tech, SF/PF, 6'8.

Turning pro after his sophomore season during which he averaded 20 points, 5 rebounds and two assists. Decent shooter, but can't drive. Could join Yellow Jacket star Matt Harpring (whose number is retired at GT) on the Jazz.

MARCUS WILLIAMS, Arizona, SG, 6'7"

Good at the fundamentals and can hit threes.

JARED DUDLEY, Boston College, SF, 6'7"

Led the ACC in points and rebounding and is said to be good at creating his own points, but not his own shots--whatever that means.
