SI.com is reporting that the NCAA's Division I (FCS) college football decision-makers are looking into a proposed 8-team playoff. With controversy yet again this season as LSU defeated Ohio State to become the first 2-loss National Champion, several on the NCAA Division I Board of Directors are reportedly considering a playoff seriously.

My gripe here is this; yet again, the NCAA will do all they can to ensure the rich get richer, and a 8-team playoff only further widens the gap between the haves (BCS conferences) and the have-nots (non-BCS conferences). A playoff is needed at some point, you'll get no disagreement from me, but I believe a 16-team playoff is necessary. Here's how you pull it off. The 11 conference champions are seeded appropriately and matched up with 5 at-large selections. This way a Boise State or Hawaii do not get left out and the Sun Belt Champion can play the #1 seed each year. The MAC, Sun Belt and C-USA Champions will likely get #13-16 seeds, but at least they are given a chance, which is a ot more than I can say for today's format. The 5 at-large selections can come from the remaining teams, as rated by BCS computers, but not limited by conference affiliations. That way Oklahoma, Kansas and Mizzou could all be playing for the title and not have one team left out due to a stupid maximum teams from a single conference rule.

So what do you think? Can it be done? Of course it can. Will it ever happen? No. I do not see the non-BCS conferences ever given a fair chance. Players can break all-time NCAA records and get little to no Heisman talk, and minus a undefeated season, no matter who they play, non-BCS teams get left in the dust no matter how talented they are. The rich keep getting richer, and the BCS conference schools want to ensure it stays that way. An 8-team playoff will all but seal that deal.

The SEC is good for something, every time one of them gets left out , they cry and you guessed it. The B*S tweaks the sytem, lets hope we do get some sort of a playoff...................
