The NBA playoffs last way too long.  Too many teams get in and then they play too many games. Changing the first round to 7 games was a bad idea.  If you are going to have 8 teams get in, then a 5 game series gives the 8 seed a better chance to win.  However, I don't even think the 8th seed should even be in the playoffs.  Teams with losing records should not be in the playoffs (Orlando).  It should be something that is earned by actually winning games.  Look at baseball, their is 30 teams just like in the NBA, but only 4 teams from each league make the playoffs(the 3 division winners, and a wild card).  Then they play only 5 games in the first round, not 11, sorry I meant 7, but it seems like 11.  I agree the Warriors-Mavs series was a good series.  However, it was a fluke.  The 2 teams just happened to match up in a way that favored the Warriors.  It also might have helped that Don Nelson knew the Mavs inside and out.  If the Warriors would have played anyone else in the first round they would be at home right now, not on the brink of losing their series with the Jazz.  I think the NBA should learn from Major League Baseball and only let 4 teams from each conference into the playoffs (the 3 division winners and a wild card).  Then they should only play 5 games in the first round.  Sorry Warrior fans that means you would have had to wait another year to see your team make the playoffs.  But when they did it would have meant they actually earned something.  With less games and less teams the early rounds of the playoffs would actually mean something, because all of the teams in the playoffs would actually have a chance to win it all. In Baseball anyone can win it all once they make the playoffs, not true in Basketball.  Come on be honest, who actually thougt teams like the Warriors or Magic actually had a chance to win it all?  Nobody I hope.  But when the baseball playoffs start every team has a chance (Tigers 2006 AL champs, Angels 2002 WS champs) to win the WS.  Besides Nets and Raptors fans who cared about their first round series? Nobody.  Solution. Less teams + less game = more interesting playoffs. Baseball Rules. Go SF Giants.
