In response to:
A-Rod's Chicago trip peek into future?
Under certain circumstances, Alex Rodriguez could be a fit for both the Cubs and the White Sox, who host the Yankees in a three-game series starting Tuesday night. Given the five-year commitment to third baseman Aramis Ramirez, who has a full no-trade clause, the Cubs' interest in Rodriguez would hinge on their belief he still can play shortstop.
The unspoken in the article is if the Yanks continue to struggle and fall out of the playoff chase during the summer and the Cubs make a move in the Central, or the White Sox need to cement their position, would the Yanks trade ARod before the trading deadline. With the assumption he is opting out, does Brian Cashman decide against breaking the bank to sign a player whose main interest is being the highest paid player in baseball, one who still cannot find a way to lead the Yankees to anything of significance.
It looks like for ARod and the Yankees, it will always be "what could have been" instead of what was. A fitting profile for a future Cub, another team loaded with "what could have beens" instead of what was.

I really hope that A-rod does get out of there. A-rod is a hell of a player. I am not sure why anybody would want to play for the yankess. All they do is try to buy the rings instead of doing it like everybody else in the majors. I would love to see the yankees sit at home every year when the playoffs start. I love baseball and watch as many games as I see, but will not watch the yankees

I'm a huge Yankee fan and it really makes me sick to my stomach on how some fans have developed a love hate relationship with A-Rod. He's by far the best player in baseball and people choose to forget that he gave up his natural position to play third base so that he can get on a team that will contend for a championship. Charles Barkley said it best "When A-Rod wins a ring, he should accept the ring and tell those fair-weathered fans to go to hell." GO A-ROD!! You got my support.

I just can't believe how the yankees/media and the fans of New York have treated this guy , he has a couple of bad games " We hate you A rod ,trade him , "he cant perform in the clutch" , he hits 13 homeruns in April and they love him again, he hasn't hit a homerun in three weeks and he sucks again. I say bring him to the Dodgers and his pathetic .300 plus average /40+ homeruns and 120+ rbi's a year and we will take that supposed cancer of your hands, heck we will even throw in w.betemit so you New Yorkers can really have something more to whine about.. bottomline when its all said and done he will be in the top five greatest of all time , and yank fans will have found someone else to put the blame on .

lol Some fans have developed that love/hate relationship? How would some be defined in terms of percentage? 75%? 80%? 98.7%? :-p

While I have not written the Yankees of for this year, I think you would have to agree that ARod is the most marketable player the team has and if his direction is to opt out of his contract, why not consider trade offers for ARod? The team is getting older, has many areas that need to be addressed and a so called direction to be "fiscally responsilble" though I admit the definition of fiscal responbility for the Yankees will always be different from the rest of the MLB teams.
JD Drew (another Boras client) decision to opt out really paid off for him, and certainly ARod will earn magnitudes more than JD and would the Yankees want to lock up that much money in a player when they have other concerns, especially if the trade options get interesting come July.
Granted the Red Sox right now appear to be a juggernaut, but they are still
the Red Sox, so there is hope they will collapse, but the Yankees are really going to have to step up to enter into Wild Card consideration.
Usually the Yankees are buyers during the trade deadline, often to the other teams advantage due to the Yankees desperation, but will there be the chance they will be sellers this year?
