Kwame Brown, Lakers C...... 17%
Tim Thomas, Clippers F...... 10%
Eddy Curry, Knicks C...... 7%
Vince Carter, Nets G...... 6%
Darko Milicic, Grizzlies C/F...... 5%
Tracy McGrady, Rockets G...... 4%

Based on a survey of 242 NBA Players

FAST FACTS: Drafted No. 1 out of high school by the Wizards in 2001, Brown has averaged more than 10 points in a season only once (2003-04); this year he was averaging 4.8 points in 20 games through Sunday.... The 6'10" Thomas has played for six teams in 11 years, never averaging better than 5.0 rebounds a season.... Carter has averaged more than 20 points in nine straight seasons.

This is an expanded version of the NBA poll from the January 21, 2008 issue of Sports Illustrated.

What's your take on this poll? Do you agree with the players?

At least Vince Carter knows how to put the ball in the rim. How can you put Vince Carter and Kwame Brown in the same sentence? Even Eddy Curry? Jesus who is doing this poll! LOL I wish Kobe had vince on his team..they would be unstoppable. At least if Vince doesn't mind taking the back seat while the Kobe show is going on.

Ask any Raptor fan why Vince is included on this list...I guarantee they agree with this poll. He is the most infuriating player in the NBA.....hope you enjoy his wince NJ you have him for max money for years to come!

What about Sebastian Telfair?

Report Offensive Comment

Raptor fan here and I agree! Vince plays for one thing only: the all-star game. It's his playoffs & finals all rolled into one. That's where he made his money...so at least he knows what's important to himself, I'll give him that.

Vince doesn't mind taking a backseat because he can't handle being a team leader, even though he's paid like one. Leadership roles force him to quit on the floor.

Report Offensive Comment

the reason vince is on this list is because he has freakishly amazing athletic ability and other players probably feel that he could be a 35-8-6 type of player if he used it properly. or that every shot he takes should be a dunk where his socks are level with the rim.

Report Offensive Comment

I would put Ricky Davis in there too... the guy has proven he can score and fill a stat sheet, but wastes his talents with poor shot selection and selfishness. He has played along side Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Kevin Garnett... he could have been a Pippen-like #2 guy on all of those teams, but instead he came across as just being jealous of his super star teammates. Kwame Brown at least seems to accept that he will never be a star in this league and is a serviceable role player. Guys like Ricky Davis though, are useless because of they're unrealistic sense of self worth.

Report Offensive Comment

What about Lebron James? The guy can average 50pts, 12 rebs, 12 assists, 5 blocks a game......but instead he doesnt fully tap his athleticism or potential. Instead he chooses to drive the lane and dunk on peoples heads, or even worse, drive and kick it out to a shooter. Whats up with that? He needs to elevate his game if he ever wants to be mentioned in the same breathe as MJ!

Report Offensive Comment

Are you retarded hoops? How about last year when Lebron singlehandedly led his team to the NBA Finals? Every other player has had a serviceable number 2 player next to them but Lebron had no one. And is it really stats that matter so much? Are we not measured ultimately on wins and losses? The numbers you put there are absurd... watch some more basketball buddy.

Brown is definitely number 1, but I think they should have mentioned Marbury and Adam Morrison in there, too. Both have great talents and could be something special, but either selfishness and instability (Marbury) or lack of confidence (Morrison) have derailed their chances to ever be anything more than guys who had a shot and blew it big.

Kwame Brown hands down. I am a huge laker fan. When Kwame comes in the game I turn the channel. He has to be the least inspired player in the league. he is also the one center who is always out of position. He is a bona fide rally killer. Please hurry back Andrew.

Of all the comments i've read, Kwame surely is popular, hahaha. I don't think he is talented in the first place. I'd have to agree that the half-man, half-effort guy should top the list!

i think bargniani (i might have spelled it wrong) from the raptors is a big candidate. He was the 06 #1 pick by the toronto raptors and he just cant perform.....unfortunately. He is a 7 footer that can shoot the 3 but nothing else. With his size he should be driving in the lane more like a hedo turkoglu or R.lewis. Being the #1 pick he is just as disapointing to me as kwame brown. He is filled with talent but just doesnt have the confidence to perform on the court. Toronto Raptors defnately made a huge mistake in taking him instead of Brandon Roy or even Rudy **** during the 06 draft. They would have had a Jamario Moon which plays simular to Rudy in the 06-07 season which would defnately helped them out in the playoffs unlike andrea. Andrea...u have to wake up and stop shooting 3s. Act like u want the ball and play hard night in and night out THis is the NBA not the Euro league Guys are alot tougher and play with passion here. Being a 7 footer that can shoot doesnt make u anything in the NBA. even kris humphris is more productive than you are in the team. Go grab some rebounds and play defence.... JEEZ just go back to Europe. Do Not Become the 2nd Arujo or w.e his name was that was a total no show. and u better play like u want it. ur lucky that jorge is injured or else he will just take ur playing time. Hes like a late draft pick and plays alot harder than u do. Stop giving all the pressure to chris bosh and WAKE UP

With Vince it's not about the stats. His stats are good. With Vince it's that he's scared of taking contact in the lane, settles for difficult jumpers, and single-handedly loses ball games by missing a string of shots he shouldn't even be trying to take when the game is on the line. He plays as if he doesn't give a damn. It's strange. He's truly half-man, half-invisible. I wonder how he averages over 20ppg. Whenever I see him play he seems to just stand around the perimeter waiting for the ball, then if he gets it he just dribbles and dribbles and shoots some weird shot. He never fights for position in the post, he rarely makes cuts, he doesn't catch rebounds in traffic, he dribbles too much. How on earth does he get such good stats. It's a mystery to me. And it makes me wonder what he'd do if he played the game seriously.

Vince definately belongs there... Bargnani is suffering some sophmore blues, I feel your pain T.dot but give the kid a break this is a huge adjustment.... Lets see what he do in the post season this year. (can you feel the fingers crossed behind my back) I am not sure we can handle another Hafa!

About Bargani..i agree being #1 draft was a bit extreme! But his has much talent he isn't a typical C..he is more a PF and Shooter so he needs 2 find his rythym..don't forget he has a nice rookie season and some injuries! So he isn't such a frustration..Finally about the "go back 2 europe" the european level isn't so bad anymore or at least the nba level isn't so high as it was!! :P unfortunately... So don't be so harsh

I think Vince Carter is legit but the rest i'm not too sure. Carter is a guy that took a hard foul against the Knicks in the playoff and been settling for jumpers ever since, Kame Brown? I think he's a guy that never learned how to play the game. He had the body of a great talented but the basketball skills never followed. THis can be said about alot of guys on this list. As far as a guy like T-Mac, his problem stems from his lack of ability to stay healthy. But i'm surprised that Nene didn't make this list according to the standards they seem to be applying. I guess he got a pass for his medical condition.

In total I have to call BS on alot of the players that are in this poll. I don't think you should be considered a talent if you can't play the game. Vince Carter, Tim Thomas and JR Smith are probably the only players that belong in this poll. The rest don't seem to fit in my opinion, but nice try at being provocative.

Report Offensive Comment

From the comments it seems that some are missing the fact that this is a poll of NBA players as to who they thought got the least out of the most raw talent (i.e. least return on their abilities).

This could also be named "The most talented with the least drive or spark to do anything with that talent".

Vince Carter gives New Meaning to basketball being a "NON-CONTACT" sport. He is terminally afraid of any contact and avoids it like the plague. Which is why you never see him driving the lane. He prefers the jump shot, or the dunk. He figures making the nightly highlight-reel is good enough for him, as he will never make the leap from 1/2 decent to superstar. (although he is paid like a super star. - NJ you have my sympathies...!)

Kwame, Kwame, Kwame... where do we start... Well Michael Jordan has to take some of the blame for drafting HIM as #1. (look at Adam Morrison). Kwame is a disappointtment in every aspect. The lakers are better off buying him out and not having Kwame on the floor. He is a turn-over waiting to happen!

Darko?? -Bust. Fortunately for the Pistons, they were coming off a Championship winning season (so they did not need Darko) AND they had Joe Dumars work the trade-magic for them!

you have to have talent to belong on this list. kwame has none. if you wanted to put most infuriating players, then yeah, he'd be here.

i think lamar odom belongs on this list. he's ridiculously talented but shrivels up like a prune under pressure and makes at least one "****!?!??" play per game. For a 6'10" guy who can dribble, pass, shoot (kinda), rebound - he's wasting so much of his immense talent.
