Okay, first off, I would like to say that I hate them. Secondly, I would like to say that they are slumping and that WILL have an affect on the rest of the season.
Why?
Because the teams they don't look like a team while losing to Washington twice and Charlotte once, in a combined 6.1 ppg less than there opponey in those games. Against teams with a combined record 8 games below .500! And they only beat a New Jersey team below .500 by 9.
But you're asking: how does this affect the rest of the season? Here's how: The Celtics schedule is based soley on teams with bad records like these, and against team 3 games or less above .500, they've lost 4 of their 6 games. Against basically the only other contender in the East, the Pistons, they've lost 1 of the 2 games they played.
Okay, my bottom line: the Celtics will not end the season with near as good a record as many people think.

You're exactly right. The Celts aren't going to break the Bulls' record for wins. But so what? If they end up winning around 60 games, it doesn't make them any less of a threat to come out of the East - whether you hate 'em or not. It's still a great story for a franchise that desperately needs one.
