I can't do it anymore.  I've been drinking the Kool-aid...rationalizing...debating...and making excuses.  But I just can't bring myself to do any of it anymore.  Rex, I'm cashing my chips in, I want you to sit down.  I mean, did you think we wouldn't notice the 3 picks?  Or the 1.3 QB rating!!  1.3!!!!!!  Rex, you realize that if you had just thrown all 19 of you passes into the ground, you would get a 39.58?

But that's the thing with Rex, he doesn't get that sometimes the best play is no play.  We don't always need that 40 yard pass...sometimes the 5 yard pass works just fine...and sometimes just throwing the ball away is all we need.  Ah, but Rex, you always want that big play...and it always seems to be there...just out of your reach sometimes...but it's there.

And Rex, it worked so well early in the season...cause no one was expecting it.  You came out, and just started chucking the ball down the field, and all the other teams stood their confused.  "A Bears QB throwing it down the field?  What?"...it worked cause there was surprise to it.  Now everyone, and I mean everyone, knows that you love throwing it deep.  They're just sitting back, waiting for you to gamble with the ball...and they are happy to grab your forced throws out of the air.

All you need to do is throttle it back a bit.  Pick your spots.  They'll be there...you just have to pick and choose.  Sometimes that 40 yard fly to Berrian will be there...but most of the time, the 5-8 yard slant to Mushin will be just fine.  Just complete the pass, move the chains.  This is a marathon, not a sprint, or a beauty pagent.  If you haven't learned yet, let me clue you in on something...

It doesn't matter how you win, just win.  That's it.

And Rex, look around, your team is winning.  Even with you providing a huge degree of difficulty, your team is winning.  Wait, do you have some weird bet with the Defense?  Something along the lines of, "I bet we can't win if I play this bad...."  Was this week the double or nothing from last week?  The D just won back it's money didn't it?

But seriously, we don't need a gunslinger...we just need a QB.  We need a QB that is okay with handing off the ball 30-40 times.  A QB that knows when to eat the ball when there is no where to throw it.  A QB that knows when to take the shot, and when not to.  A QB that understands that you just need to keep the chains moving.  A QB that understands this defense gives him a HUGE advantage, and that all he has to do is take care of the ball, and hold serve.  That's it Rex...the only thing you can't do is turn the ball over...

Seems you're having issues with that.

I mean, Rex, you're on pace to set the Bears team record for TDs in a season...and INTs in a season...not good.  We don't need a record setting QB, just a steady field general.

To be fair Rex, it's not just you...the coaching staff seems to be hell bent on calling all these deep passes...trying to appease you or play to your strengths.  Whatever it is, they are the ones calling the plays, and you're obviously carrying out the plays they are calling, or else you would have been benched long ago.  But maybe the problem is that they feel they need to keep calling these plays, because you're the QB in there.  What if there was a QB who didn't demand to throw deep all the time?  Or a QB that understood when it's not there, you don't have to force it?

Maybe it's time to see what Brian can do.

Here's the kicker though Rex, I still believe you are the future at the position for this team.  I think you have the skill to be a good QB, and all you need is a little more time...but time we don't have right now.  This team can goto the Super Bowl, all we need is a QB that doesn't keep stabbing the team in the back.

I mean, think about it...here's the D, working their butts off, getting the ball back any which way possible...and as soon as they do, you give it right back.  It's only a matter of time before someone on that D walks over and rips your head off.

And from all accounts, you're still strutting around like you're the 2nd coming...I have just 1 thing to say to that...1.3.  That's it.  Rex, you've got a long way to go still...and maybe what you need is a wake up call.  Sit you down, and make you a little more humble, realize that there is a lot of things you need to learn.

Yes, I know that Brian isn't all that great of a QB, and I know he's had his own issues with INTs.  But he's a vet that should understand he doesn't need to win the game for the Bears...that's what the D is for.  All he needs to do is hold onto the ball...that's it.

So Rex, I hope you buy the D and Mr. Hester a fleet of new cars or at least a big steak dinner...cause they deserve it.  They busted their butts out their today to make up for all 3 of your picks...and they managed to win the game easily.  Imagine if you had just thrown incomplete passes instead of picks...

Or better yet, imagine if you had been on the bench?
