The Raiders had high hopes this season and it looked to be the year that the Raiders make that turn and become real contenders. Jason Campbell showed enough flashes and was able to manage the offense. Along with McFadden's game changing abilities, the Raiders offense was able to help Oakland's defense stay off the field and not expose a weak defense against the run. THEN THE SEASON WAS IN JEOPARDY.

IMO, Oakland should have gone after a less expensive aquisition in the form of David Jarrad and/or given the reigns to Terrelle Pryor before spending and giving away to much for a QB that didn't have a great season last year. The Raiders Brass will be ringless once more and it looks like they shot themselves on the foot to improving their roster, specially their defensive roster.

Here is a list on who the Raiders did select and who they could have gotten:

2003 NFL Draft = Nnamdi Asomugha

Great pick.

**The raiders could have also retained the services of an undrafted QB named Tony Romo.

2004 = Robert Gallery

Raider Nation could have taken Ben Roesthlisberger.

2005 = Fabian Washington

The Raiders had a shot at Aaron Rodgers, the NFL's Extreme Super Bowl MVP Belt winner.

2006 = Michael Huff

Raiders decided not to select Jay Cutler, who is presently playing better than Palmer.

2006 = JaMarcus Russell

Nuff said.

2007 = Darren McFadden

Again, nuff said.

2008 = Darius Heyward-Bey

What the Raiders could have had? Hustling Josh Freeman or Stephen McGee who has shown to have a big upside.

2010 = Rolando McClain LB

The Radiers pass on Tebow-Time and ended up with a rusty QB.

2010 = Stefen Wisniewski C

Raiders potentially could have grabbed Ryan Mallett.

Raiders really did have a shot at getting better. Just imagine Aaron Rodgers as their QB, how about Josh Freeman or even Tony Romo! But faith can be cruel.... I look forward to Pryor's starting debut!

Did the Raiders give too much for Palmer? Of course they did. But to list all the QB's they could have drafted in the last decade is stupid. All of those guys were developed by the teams they played for. The Raiders had a carousel of different coaches, ensuring that NO QB could have been developed during these years. In fact, I can only think of one great QB (Stabler) in the history of the Raiders who they drafted and were able to develop. The Raiders have a much longer history of finding veteran QB's to lead them.David Garrard (correct spelling) had a hernia and is not playing football this season. And Pryor is nowhere near ready to be even in an NFL uniform, let alone playing QB (which has still yet to be determined if he is a QB or a WR or something else...) As far as your naming "The Raiders Brass" at fault for the Palmer trade - just who the hell are you talking about? Mark Davis? Amy Trask? Not a chance. It's all on Hue Jackson and nobody else.

Thank you.

IMO, Pryor is a better NFL QB prospect than an over 30ish Carson Palmer. Without McFadden, Pryor would be capable enough of possibly doing what Cam Newton is doing right now for the Panthers. If Tebow can demolish a so called professional football team like the Raiders, than why couldn't Palmer do the same to the Broncos offense? Palmer's experience alone should be a boon for Oakland. Yet we have all failed to see it.

You don't think for a second that Raider fans would want Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roesthlisberger, Tony Romo or even Josh Freeman? Please....

Alch, what you are doing is woulda coulda shoulda with the past draft picks. Every NFL team can go back and rethink their choices in the draft. And every team will find a player they should have taken.

Yes, the Raiders gave up too much and yes, they may have made a mistake in their choice to get Palmer. But to list off past picks for what they could have had has no bearing on what they chose to do NOW.

Mistake or not with Palmer has no bearing on past picks. Period.
