Tony has done well in this years Chase so far.

Could be the best owner /driver of all time?

Do you think that it is his Chase to lose or Carl's?

Or is there more drivers in this Chase withn 2 to go?

At this point, 3 points different and both at the top of their game, I dont think it's anyones
"to lose". I hope they fight for one/two the next two races.

Many consider Stewart to be an "Owner/driver. If that were truly the case, he'd be waaay down the list.Alan Kulwicki ranks #1 in my memory.Carl's to lose and if he does to that little twerp, it will ruin a day for me.

you crack me up in the morning.

Tony seems to have more momentium. You never know if he will blow up.

I agree wholeheartedly on this.

Kulwicki built his team from the ground up, Stewart was handed 50% control of the team.

I can't believe the way Tony has been driving in the last few months. It sure seems like a new Tony. What happened?

Tony feels he has something to prove, especially after saying they didn't deserve to be in the Chase at Richmond. Plus this is a chance to show they are not just a second tier HMS-lite team.

And the fact that the #48 is having one heck of a meltdown (for them) since starting the Chase. That car just has not run up to par (for them) this year. So this is his best chance to grab another championship.

One could say that he sandbagged until the chase. You know like "hung around in the back until time to race".

which may explain that gordon kid's success this summer,, nobody else was really trying very hard.

I think you're down to Carl and Tony.

I'll agree with 22 GA that even though Tony is an owner/driver its not the same situation as it was in the past. Or even compared to what Robby Gordon is doing.

buy some left over hendrick or roush equipment, start and park it.. you're a owner driver.

Buy your Call of Duty MW3 at Game Stop. Joey Logano says, " Thank You" LOL

Unless neither Tony nor Carl can handle the "new" Phoenix, then one of them will win. I would love to see Smoke get his 3rd championship. As for his owner/driver credentials, he just is not in the same situation as what some of us who are older call an owner/driver.

say what you will about owner driver deal. I think its all so different you cant compare..

if tony wins it, one thing that you can call him is

Champion!

He wont mind.

Nascar and their TV crews are gonna hype up the "owner/driver" thing till they beat it to death. Want to paint Stewart as one of the good old hard working guys.... Ain't so!

not at all like gordon kid who was working for a living at like,11 or 12 when he moved to indiana to avoid the child labor laws.

These are the same people who cannot say "Derek Cope" without also saying "Daytona 500 winner" at the same time.

Its all hype these days.

We hear about France and Helton at NASCAR, and then perhaps John Darcy (director of competition). don't forget, there is also a NASCAR Director of Marketing.. something Phelps. These are the folks that make sure the hype is there.

There is probably a director of peanuts and popcorn, for that matter.

Where is the circus again this week?

Very likely, I would estimate, that in any meetings about whether to suspend Kryle for the rest of the season, The marketing folks are there shouting NO NO NO and showing all the viewership estimates with bar charts showing "with Kyle viewership" and "Without Kyle Viewership" stats.
