Report: Keselowski fined for criticizing EFI efforts

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Brad Keselowski has been fined by NASCAR for criticizing electronic fuel injection, The Associated Press has learned.
Multiple people familiar with the punishment told AP on Thursday about Keselowski's fine. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because NASCAR did not publicize the fine.
Keselowski
NASCAR has been privately punishing drivers for making disparaging remarks about the series during the past two years.
The fine is believed to be $25,000.
"We're not doing this because it's better for the teams," Keselowski said last week during an appearance at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. "I don't think we're really going to save any gas. It's a media circus, trying to make you guys happy so you write good stories. It gives them something to promote. We're always looking for something to promote, but the honest answer is it does nothing for the sport except cost the team owners money.
"Cars on the street are injected with real electronics, not a throttle body [like in NASCAR]. So we've managed to go from 50-year-old technology to 35-year-old technology. I don't see what the big deal is."
NASCAR has called the move to electronic fuel injection part of its green initiative and said engines should run more efficiently by controlling the fuel mixture through electronics.
NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp acknowledged there had been conversations with Keselowski.
"We did talk to Brad following his recent comments that were highly critical of the series moving to electronic fuel injection next season," Tharp said. "We made it clear to him that these kind of comments are detrimental to the sport, and we handled it accordingly with him."

NASCAR has penalized Danica Patrick's crew chief for a rules violation last weekend at Phoenix.
Crew chief Tony Eury Jr. was fined $10,000 on Tuesday and placed on probation through March.
The penalty was for an improperly attached weight on Patrick's car in the Nationwide Series race on Saturday. Patrick was involved in an early accident and finished 21st.
Eury Jr. started the cheating pretty quick. LOL

He said moving from 50 year old technology to 35 year old technology was no big deal.
Must agree with him.
Then he went on to say this will only cost the owners money, that cost him money.
I really love racing but:
NASCAR is looking more and more like bunch of children running the show.
"Careful or will put you on double secret probation" no speaking your mind around here.
and "make sure to mention your sponsor every tenth word or so during interviews, and pretty much ignore your fans needs, just make Brian happy."

Howdy all
Funny how these "double secret" probations don't stay secret for too long.
Hard to understand Nascar/France sometimes. Are they as stupid as they appear or are they really smart. Their intelligence must be the only double secret that does not get out. LOL
Reality is you just can't be publicly insultin the company that pays you.Even if they are right.

This outburst by Kez is quite revealing, to me at least.
I have sat here for months, and I believe so have a few others, wondering how the hell a restrictor plate and EFI would work???? Now we know, if this is accurate
As Brad said, if this is merely a "throttle body" sitting on top of the same high rise intake manifolds that high performance carburated engines have used for years (such as Edlebrock), I can a) see how, now, the restrictor plate still would be functional and B) BRAD K IS SPOT ON!
