I know that the Cowboys just extended DT/DE Jay Ratliff and signed Tank Johnson. But neither of these guys are really a 3-4 NT. Jay Ratliff was expected to take Chris Canty or Marcus Spears place as Starting DE this past season. When NT Jason Ferguson went down Ratliff took his spot. Ratliff will never be big enough to play NT. That being said the Cowboys need to either trade or wait until Rogers is released. The good thing about the 3-4 Defense is that you get alot of rotation. Rogers can play 1st and 2nd down to stop the run threat and Johnson can come in on 3rd down to provide a pass rush up the middle. Rogers comes in at 6-4 360lbs and he is from Texas. The Lions want to get rid of him and it only makes perfect sense to come to Irving. This guy would be a Young Force in the middle. This move would allow either Canty or Spears to be traded to Bill Parcells Dolphins for some draft picks and Jay Ratliff to play DE, which he is better suited for. Rod Marinelli came out and said he wants Shaun Rogers gone next season wether it is by trade or release. That means the trade market will be a 4-7th round pick or a player. That should be an easy trade considering Dallas will probably trade a load of players during the off season. Jason Ferguson will be released. He is 34 or 35 and he is coming off of a bad injury. This will give Dallas more cap space and Jerry Jones can knock some money off of Rogers current salary. Rogers will most likely take a pay cut because he would be back home and play for a team that has the chance at playing in the Super Bowl for the next 5 seasons.
Jerry Jones........Please make a phone call and get this Mammoth down in Irving. No one will run up the middle on the Cowboys.
