| 01:07 PM ET 08.11 | So the poll indicated that 2 people thought that the Sox would go ahead of or tie the Yankees at first place in the American League East, and 1 person thought they would fall farther than 2 games back. And that one person, whoever he/she is, was correct. They are now 3 games back, and even though "one game isn't much", it is at this time. We have about a month left in the season, and the Sox haven't shown any sign of defensive strategy ever since Varitek was deemed disabled. Varitek seems to be so key in this lineup that he's turned into a crutch. So what if he's played so many games and is the team captain? You always need a good second string catcher. Always.
