People accused of having diar(r)eah of the mouth can't seem to stop talking. Why am I talking about diar(r)eah of the mouth, you ask? Well, I'm sure most of you look at the Truth & Rumors everyday and today you would have seen Osi Umenyiora's comments on Matt Light and the Patriots.
He accused Light of being a dirty player and he claimed that the Giants are capable of beating the Patriots. That is one bold statement, if you ask me. In case you haven't noticed, Osi, trash talkin' tha Pats is not helpful. Let's take a look back at who has trash talked the 18-0 Patriots this year.
LaDainian Tomlinson (Week 2): LDT, being the classy guy that he is, trash talked the Patriots. He said "I think the Patriots live by the motto 'If you aren't cheating, you aren't trying'." The Patriots didn't say anything about the comments. Instead, they let their play do the talking.
Result: Patriots win 38-14.
Terrell Owens (Week 5): T.O. didn't say anything. He wrote it instead. There was a letter on the outside of his locker. The body of that letter said "Due to the magnitude of this week's game and high volume of questions for the Original 81 about the other 81. I will be taking all questions immediately following Sunday's game. P.S. Get your popcorn ready."
Result: 'Boys get their first loss in a 48-27 blowout.
Starting to see the trend? Wait! There's more!
Anthony Smith (Week 13): Mr. Guarantee. He took a huge risk. He could be a hero or he could become a stupid, inexperienced nobody. He became that nobody. The Patriots purposely exploited Anthony Smith. They made him bite on play action fakes constantly and mouthed off to him.
Result: Patriots win 34-13. Thanks Mr. Guarantee!
Igor Olshansky (Conference Championship Weeks): Igor who?! That's what I thought when I heard about these comments. I'm not sure if it's only me that didn't know who this Igor guy is. Anyways, Igor said that the Patriots are more worried about the Chargers than the Chargers are about the Patriots and that the Chargers can't be stopped. Um, wrong!
Result: Pats win 21-12 and the "unstoppable" Chargers are stopped.
Count the number of people who trash talked Osi. One..two..three..four! Now, let's count the losses. One..two..three..four! The total margin of victory was in the Patriot's favor, a 75 point difference. Coincidence? I think not!
Sadly, trash talking has become common in the NFL these days. Many claim the Patriots have the least amount of class in the NFL, but when are the Patriots the trash talkers? They rarely even retaliate except for on the field. For all of you planning to trash talk the Patriots, look at what has happened this season.
