None of us really gave the Raiders a shot at winning this weekend at Lambeau Field. We all knew this game would be a lock for the Packers.
While the outcome wasn't a surprise, there were a few things that occurred in this game that should cause concern.
The offense is becoming stagnant. The play calling is becoming so heavily run based that we are consistently finding ourselves in 3rd and long situations, which ultimately causes us to force the ball down the field. Last week we were 2 for 11 on third down. This week we were 5 for 13. Granted, Green Bay was only 3 for 11 - BUT, they were converting on 1st and 2nd down more often than not.
Palmer is regressing. He's floating passes and getting happy feet even though the protection is giving him time to throw. Sure, when you look at his stat line it doesn't look too bad (except for the FOUR interceptions), but just like last week, most of the yardage came when the game was essentially over. And it doesn't help much when the WRs are dropping passes that are finally catchable.
The defense is also regressing. What happened to the bump and run? Why try to cover such talented receivers so far off the line of scrimmage? Why are we playing zone in third and long situations? I realize our corners are nothing to write home about as compared to the rest of the league, but damn. If you give a receiver 10 yards to get off the line, you shouldn't be surprised when they blow right past you. Horrible tackling, bad angles... I'm just not sure what Bresnahan is trying to do.
Penalties don't need to be mentioned. They seem to be a given.
Technically, we are still in the hunt. But, I shudder at the thought of playing Detroit next week - can the team keep it together? Or will another week of undisciplined football seal our fate?

I feel your pain, LIHI. I really do. On the bright side, Suh's out for another week, right?

This is why I'm afraid of this game. I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of ejections.

No - he returns for the Oakland game. I was kinda hoping he'd get an additional reprimanded for the car crash here in Portland. But no luck there...

But Lady - you can help out a bit by your Pats taking care of Denver next week :-)

Either his injury is worse than the Raiders let on initially, or he needs to get off his butt and help us win some games.

Careful Lady, I'm pretty sure there were 7 teams that felt the same way... :-)

There sure are a lot of foot related injuries on this team. Reminds me of the Trail Blazers with their knee injuries... I saw Jackson's statement that surgery wouldn't be needed, but with all the time he's missed I wonder if that's truly the case.

I'll probably be going to hell for this comment BUT our prayer circle is just as good as theirs.

Now there is a good line. It seems like the GB game took any air left in our sails completely out. They just whalloped us in the biggest way - turnovers and penalties. We beat them in yards, etc - but 5 TO!
Also.....what is with all the deleted comments? Might there be some Raider hating going on here? If so, kudos to the removals.
