12:26 PM ET  01.11 | These are some moves the Cowboys need to make during the off-season to make the playoffs and for the future.  Unfortunately, hiring a GM is out of the  question.

1.  Draft a corner for T. Newman with the 14th pick  either from LSU or Alabama.  If a corner is not available then pick and OG.  It  doesn't matter as long as the player comes from winning pedigree.
2.  Cut  Jenkins.  Even though he has decent coverage skills, he is an atrocious tackler  and can't stay healthy.
3.  Switch Free and Tyrone Smith.  Smith was a Lft.  tackle at USC and Free was a rt. tackle before Adams got hurt a few years ago.   Should have been done at the during training camp.  Maybe because of the  lockout.
4.  Switch Ratiliff to RDE and either draft a NT, move someone from  within, or sign a free agent.  It would be great to see how much terror Ware and  Ratliff can create from the same side and will help Spencer when playing on  Ratliff's side as well.  Move will also extend Ratliff's career.
5.  Need a  linebacker and hopefully one of the players who was injured can either replace  James or Brookings.  Sorry guys, just don't remember that players name.
6.   Draft a QB in the latter rounds like in the 4th and have the feeling that a good  one will be found because won't be your prototypical QB.
7.  Sign Orton to be  a backup.
8.  Sign a freeagent who has about 4 good years left in the tank  from either the Colts, Packers, Steelers, or Patriots.  Reason:  winning  pedigree!  This guys know what it takes to win and finish close games.
9.   Cowboys already let go of Dave Campo and already have a replacement in the works  and is probably one of the HCs that has been let go from his respective  team.
10.  Some advice to JJ.  Never sign a corner to a contract extension  into his 30s. And if you do, make sure that he can pull the switch to FS.  Can only think of 2 corners who are still contributing to their teams, but their productions have diminished this past season.  These are Woodson and Bailey.
