I had a friend was a big baseball player
back in high school
He could throw that speedball by you
Make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar
I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside sat down had a few drinks
but all he kept talking about was
Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days
I would like your help. Every one of ya.
I had an idea for a little FanNation blog project. We were talking about all of the great TDs we've read in the past and some of the great TDs of today.
Our minds have a way of forgetting the chaff and remembering the cream of the wheat.
I'm going to create a "FN's Best Throwdowns" blog. I need your nominations. What TDs over the years made you laugh hysterically? Which ones stuck out as perfectly argued on each side? Who surprised you? Which slobberknocker won a tournament? Which made the TDers Hall of Fame worth?
Please provide a link and most importantly, Why?. Just a sentence or two.
You can nominate anyone past or present, even yourself. Put the link in the comments with a description. It may trigger someone else's memory.
If you have a personal favorite of yours or someone else and you want to remain anonymous and humble, you can send me the nomination via FM. Just don't tell me the one you're in NOW is the best so I should read and vote.
I'll probably pull in a couple of people to help me figure out the best of the best, then do a short write up on each of them. With enough suggestions, I can do categories like: Comedy, Quality Arguments, Tournaments, Zingers, Instruction/Tips, Beatdowns, Originality, etc.
In the mean time, look for new candidates in the upcoming FFTI II.
Thanks,
Grue

That helps a lot. And I'm nominating you.

Brilliant concept, (Un) and I love that we argued the crap out of it, like it was the most important topic in the world. It had humor, originality, close voting, and solid arguments on both sides. Perfect example for this blog.

SWEEET
This is gonna be tough to do though. Because of how many throwdowns have disappeared with removed accounts. And all of the comments were erased on old throwdowns so it removes reader reactions.

True, but there are still tens of thousands to choose from. I have faith.

What TD sticks in your memory? Things I remember:
* Yoda challenging the Spammer to a Defend Yourself TD.
* Jolly and I did a left-right strategy TD
* Mondo and WWJ in the FFTI I final.

This was a pretty good one with Rude and I. Who is more impressive at their sport and age, Grant Hill or Mo Rivera? Ended in a tie and was a fun td.

Nice! I can tell the quality of arguments remains unchanged through the centuries.

CubanMissle kept the rhymes up the entire time. PCH gets an honorable mention with his scat like prose.

I think that qualifies in the Beatdown category.

I like how one comment missed the cutoff.
