05:56 PM ET 01.19 | I met a man named Bill today who said his brother, who is Tom Dodge, had played with a 4 yr scholarship at 'Cuse beginning the year before Dave Bing started. Tried to do some research on-line, yet I have found nothing. Bill was telling me that back then it cost 5,000 a year to go to 'Cuse. Bill said his brother was originally going to go to Albany Teachers College to play, not signed, just walk in and say 'Hello.' Bill was saying the scouts just happened to hear about an Allstar game for many of the top players in the area from 'C' schools. They went to the game and were impressed by his play so much that they, right there in front of a packed gym on the scorer's table, crossed off the last name they had originally listed and writ his name down instead. Bill had become somewhat emotional as he was saying this to me, feeling as if he was right back there again watching. If anyone has any information, links, etc., they can share to verify and expound on, it would be greatly appreciated.
