Watched the story of Cale & DW pretty good stuff. Did not watch the ceremony.

I'm waiting for Fast Freddy to get into the HOF

Wasn't too interested so didn't watch.

I heard that were doing the awards, but I could not find it on TV. As for Darrell Waltrip, I was in his pits (visiting) for a Talladega race in the late '70s. He and his wife were very nice to us and I appreciated the time that he took with us. About an hour before race time, he was no longer laughing and joking. One of the coolest parts of the day was that he was pitted next to Richard Petty. I also got to meet Mart Robbins that day. I know DW can be a bit annoying, but I will always be grateful for the way he, Stevie and the crew treated us.

Agree with just about all said.

DW's broadcast career started off in w way no one could have imagined, and the joy and sorrow he felt on that day was genuine, as was his success as a driver. No matter the personality (or mouth), one cannot overlook the accomplishments.

In my initial post I did not mean to belittle DW's driving career, but I personally don't like him as a broadcast announcer. And what that stems from is his confusion he vocalizes when something bucks the system and doesn't work the way he expects them to. The 2-tire vs. 4-tire debate from last year is a good example. He is a 4-tire guy, but couldn't understand why the 2-tire strategy beat 4-tires almost every time. Almost going as far as to call out Goodyear and NASCAR to fix the "problem".

Also not a big fan of his biases, But that is a whole other argument.

I was thinking more of the "Can't Do Wrong" attitude of the drivers of a certain car manufacturer. But yeah Junebug too.

And don't you find it interesting he's the only person in the entire sport to call Jr. that? I mean that is a personal nickname so leave it personal. People call Tony Stewart Smoke because that is a professional nickname. Besides calling a 30-something man "Junebug" just isn't right.

I heard that Smoke got that name in Indy cars cause he was always spinning out.

AW, Junebug is cutesy. LOl I think a perfect combo is Darrell and Digger.

Spinning out and blowing engines, but that was given to him on a professional level, and he even now puts it on his car. I don't recall Jr. ever having "Junebug" on his car in any NASCAR race. If that's what DW has called him since Jr was a child that's fine, but because DW uses it in a personal context when it is just him and Jr. doesn't mean he should be using it on TV. Just my thoughts on the matter.
