U.S.A. Today is reporting that after months of hemming and hawing the Twins have finally dealt baseball's premiere pitcher, Johan Santana, to the Mets for four minor leaguers, pending a physical and New York's ability to agree to long-term contract terms with the hurler. Santana's value in NL only and mixed leagues is boundless playing in a pitchers park, with a solid defense behind him and potent offense. On the other side of the trade centerfielder Carlos Gomez and starter Phillip Humber will both have a chance to help AL fantasy owners, Gomez with blazing speed that helped him to steal 136 bases over the last three seasons (including 12 in 15 tries in 58 games for the Mets last season) and Humber, a 6'4" Texan with a fastball in the low-90's and a plus-curveball should secure a spot in the Twins rotation, albeit for a team that will be hard-pressed to stay much ahead of the Royals in the AL Central.
