ESPN.com reported renowned director Spike Lee defended the New York Knicks' Asian-American point guard, Jeremy Lin, against WBC world welterweight champion "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather via Twitter Tuesday night.
Mayweather (42-0, 26 KOs), a convicted spousal abuser with a documented history of bigotry, tweeted earlier in that evening that Lin has created such worldwide hoopla simply because of his race.
"Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise," tweeted Mayweather, 35, who has captured nine world titles in five different weight classes.
The violent, pompous and morally reprehensible Mayweather continued his inane online rant.
"Its OK for ESPN to give their opinion but I say something and everyone questions Floyd Mayweather," tweeted Mayweather, who will justifiably be imprisoned for 87 days starting on June 1. "I'm speaking my mind on behalf of other NBA players. They are programmed to be politically correct and will be penalized if they speak up. Other countries get to support/cheer their athletes and everything is fine. As soon as I support Black American athletes, I get criticized."
Lee, an avid Knicks fan whose movies have examined race relations, urban crime, poverty and other issues, praised Lin and urged Mayweather to credit Gotham's newest playmaker.
"Floyd Mayweather I Hope You Watched Jeremy Hit The Gamewinning 3 Pointer With .005 Seconds Left. Our Guy Can BALL PLAIN AND SIMPLE.RECOGNIZE," tweeted Lee, 54, an Emmy Award winner and two-time Academy Award nominee. "Floyd Mayweather Sounds Like Rush Limbaugh When He Talks About Jeremy Lin Saying He's Only Getting Attention Because He's Asian.WAKE UP YO."
George Frazier, an avid boxing fan and accomplished mixed martial artist, had harsh words for "Pretty Boy."
"I genuinely hate him as a person," said Frazier, 31, a native of Arlington who currently resides in Boston (MA). "He is a racist, uneducated, ignorant-scumbag."
The 23-year-old Lin, who is the first American born player of Taiwanese or Chinese descent to perform in the NBA, hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 0.5 seconds remaining in regulation last night against the Raptors.
The undrafted graduate of Harvard University, a two-time All-Ivy League First Team selection in 2009 and 2010, is the only ballplayer in league history to score at least 20 points and dish a minimum of seven assists in the first five starts of his career.
Lin, who is averaging 26.8 points and 8.5 assists, has helped the Knicks win six consecutive games.
Floyd Mayweather is a hideous and disgusting man and Spike Lee shouldn't waste his time because the "Pretty Boy" will never "WAKE UP YO."
