I guess this is what I get for expecting anything to be a done deal before the players are actually wearing thier new uniforms. Especially when you have Bill Bavasi, the Mariners GM and Peter Angelos, the Orioles Owner trying to work together. What exactly is the problem here? The proposed trade of the Orioles Erik Bedard to the Mariners for Adam Jones, George Sherrill, Chris Tillman and a potential 4th player has been stalled because... well... I have no idea.

I almost laugh at the thought that Peter Angelos is considering this. The Orioles are not currently contenders in the AL east... nor will they be any time soon. Hate to say it petey, but there is only two ways they will. 1. is to start from the ground up. I know its a risk to trade for prospects becase as always it might not work out. But nothing has worked with the team you have in place, and the big Miguel Tejada (since traded to Astros), Rafeal Palmerio (MLB Joke for steroids... retired) and Javy Lopez (MLB Joke for...sucking...retired again, I think) signings of a few years ago sure didn't work out. 2. Is to buckle down and start spending like there is no tomarrow. Just what Peter Angelos wants to do, start spending roughly $200 Mil a year on payroll just to compete, and who exactly are the Orioles going to get this time... Mark Teixirea, Jack Cust, and Milton Bradley?

Now that Johan has been dealt to the Mets it makes me look at what the twins got and wonder if Angelos sees what a trade looks like. What the Twins got is almost equal to what the Mariners are giving up for Bedard. It really makes me dislike the trade a little more on the Mariners end but I know they have to go through with it. This is the best deal the Orioles will ever get for Erik Bedard and keeping him doesn't make any sense to your team, Petey. The prospects you are getting from the mariners will not make the Orioles contenders but it will place solid building blocks for the future. And what the Mariners get in Bedard is the top-of-the-rotation guy we so desperatly need. This trade makes sense... too much sense for the orioles to be dragging this out.
