Houston started the month of February in splendid fashion winning four of their first six games???three of those four wins were on the road against. After suffering a two game setback losing on the road against the Golden State Warriors (2/12) and the Memphis Grizzlies (2/14), the Rockets finished February strong winning five of their last seven games losing just to the Minnesota Timberwolves at home (2/17) and the Utah Jazz on the road (2/29). Everything seemed to be going the Rockets??? way; unfortunately, however, the good times would not last as Houston would stumble out of the gate losing four of their first five games. They lost two at home at the hands of the Denver Nuggets (3/2) and the Los Angeles Clippers (3/4) and two on the road against the Boston Celtics (3/6) and the Toronto Raptors (3/7). To make matters worse, Houston would have to continue the month of march without the team???s two best players???Kyle Lowry and Kevin Martin???and without them, the progress that the Rockets made seemed to have all but evaporated.

Fortunately for Houston, the Rockets have been able to keep their sinking playoff hopes afloat thanks to their rather deep bench. Goran Dragic and Courtney Lee, the player who back up Lowry and Martin, have played quite admirably filling in the void left by their injured teammates. Since starting in place for the injured Kyle Lowry, Goran has blossomed offensively as he is averaging a double-double scoring 16.1 points and 11 assists per game while Martin???s backup, Lee has been posting 14.5 points per game starting in his place. Thanks to both Dragic???s and Lee???s efforts, the Rockets have managed to remain in the playoff race helping their team win four of its last six games. While losing two of its best players late in the season, most teams would have kissed their playoff hopes goodbye, but not the Rockets???they have managed to defy the odds and stay in the playoff hunt in a rather treacherous Western Conference.(Click here to finish reading this post and so much more on JT's Hoops Blog)
