The G-men took on the cy young candidate in jeff francis. other than one pitch (2 run hr), francis showed his stuff that has made him a viable candidate for comeback player of the year. everything he did today worked out better than even he could have envisioned. i dont know if anyone can remember all the way back to thursday, wen it was matt harrison who was the newest cy young candidate. coincidentally, his impressive outing was against these same san francisco (giants on the mound, not in the batters box). the giants have some good hitters, but their on the bench and the coaches are reluctant to give them a shot during spring training. its shocking to me. no blanco, no belt, no pill oh wait, pill did play today. ya, he got one pinch hit appearance. shockingly, b. pill goes 1-1. really not deserving of playing time i guess.... arias provided the giants only offense today with a 2-run hr. i suspect he will be riding the bench in the days to come because in the eyes of the giants coaches/manager, his success must be coming from dumb luck and inexperience. but this post is not about the giants inability to make contact with the little white ball. its about jeff francis' incredible outing. there is no correlation between the last two sentences.... haha. ya, so, j francis goes 7 strong in. allowing 3 hits 2 runs on only 1 walk in route to picking up his first win of the spring????? wait? so he picks up his first win of the spring in a dominating fashion? is that how baseball works? no, this must have just been an off day for the giants offense... from what i have seen so far this spring, the giants will be going through some serious struggles with the offense and consequently, in the W/L department. its not like there is no solution to this problem though. (blanco, belt, pill, arias) = runs, (huff, stewart, whiteside, theriot) = 0 for 12 a game with the added humiliation of the opposing pitcher putting up the best career outing of their life. the giants are relying on posey, sandoval, and cabrera to score 99% of their runs. that brings me to the carlos beltran theory. i will explain....
