I watched you go back and forth on First Take with Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smith regarding their criticism in covering sports and reporting it . Their job is to call it like they see it , and hear it when they get it from the players , and coaches in the locker room then report it to the fans . If a professional player is not giving 100% like a Kwame Brown who was Michael Jordan's number 1 pick (bust) the media has every right to call him out . Fans are paying large amount of money for tickets to watch Lebron , Kobe , Wade , Howard , the 450 players that make up the NBA and deserve to hear the truth when their soft , disrepectful , or uncoachable . Jalen most of the media guys in the arena that you now are fortunate to be a part of have gone to school and came up through the ranks to get where they are today . Yeah it's ok if you want to take up for the players saying the media has no right to call them names like Bosh Spice or calling Kwame Brown a scrub . I take the side of the media they are right if a multi-million player is playing soft and a former number pick has not improved his game in ten years . Jalen if you have a problem with that then you need to find a new job . You talk about Howard Cosell and how he lifted up athletes during his era in the media it was a different time and Ali made Cosell and he was critical of Ali . If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen and stick to garden work go plant some roses .

Chosen, I think the reporting can be very subjective, which I believe is Jalen's point. There are times when I enjoy watching both Bayless and Smith but not too often.
I think that Stephen A comes across as an angry black man a lot of times, which is disappointing because I think he can speak with a lot of intelligence when you can get past his attitude.
Bayless is just a pompous ass. I rarely enjoy listening to him and I think many of his coworkers feel the same. Did you hear/read about him lying about his HS basketball career and he got called out on that by Jalen? If he can stick to real reporting, I think he'd be ok but he spends a lot of time acting like a wannabe.
I'm not arguing that analysts (former players) are going to protect players but that isn't always the case. I just think that Rose got fed up with the BS. Look at his past and how hard he worked along with the rest of the Fab Five. I don't think he generally questions other players' work ethic because he was always so focused on his own work ethic and that was expected of his teammates.
Just my thoughts for what it's worth...

Alright maybe I should have said Jalen Rose talks out of the side of his neck . He's a sports analysis now working for ESPN like Skip and Stephen A and it's his job to give the fans what they see and want to hear . I watch every game that comes on ESPN , TNT , NBATv , or ABC until I fall asleep basketball , baseball , football , boxing , golf , the sports I played growing up and still play today . Jalen cannot have it both ways being a analysis and critic if a guy is not giving the fans 100% it's his job to call them out . He's a media guy now not a player the media is not nice to you when you are making millions and you're slacking .

I think it's a matter of striking the right balance. Chuck does alright on TNT but then he's never had difficulty criticizing either. I think who he is now is the same guy he was on the court and he tends to be respected for that by the players. But, he's also well balanced by the rest of the TNT crew (unfortunately, I'm seeing faces but not recalling the names).

I can appreciate your opinion and yes Skip may have embellished the truth to validate his opinions on athletes and sports . He was no Jalen Rose on the court on any level and Jalen called him out on it . Did Skip deserve to be called out yes because he stretched the truth about his playing the sport . I'm not a huge fan of this very opinionated little man but he is entertaining and the show is entertainment . On the other hand I like Jalen but what he said about Grant Hill when he played at Duke a great program was uncalled for and Jalen received alot of backlash for his jealous comments . But I agree with your comments I can't say that about others .

I was surprised by what he said about Hill and the rest of Duke. I like Hill; character guy. I think Jalen has matured quite a bit since his college days.
I do like the insight that 30 for 30 gives on a lot of topics that we only see the surface material.

I watched the entire blow out between the 3 and one thing Jalen called out 1.4 and now its disrespectful.
Skip has called players all kinds of names and that is not talking about a players game, which is the only thing that matters.
Lashing out at poor play is legal and should be fair game without any say whatsoever.
But to interject name calling and saying well a player should get over the name calling and when they play better I wont call them names.
I think reporting game play and results are open for opinions but name calling is way out of line and I think that reporters should be open game for their bias and lies as well.
Skip felt Jalen went over the line well does Skip think he went over the line on his name calling of Bosh as spiceBosh?
