02:33 AM ET  04.12 | well, there is always next year. haha. 5 games into the season, its not looking good for the sf giants. i do not see them making the playoffs this season. it looks like it will be the d-backs/ dodgers contending for the NL west crown this year. last season, it was the best pitching team/ worst offensive team. this year, they dont seem like a top of the league team in any way, shape, or form. getting swept by the d-backs in the opening series was a good indicator that the season was going to be a poor one. winning on the road for the giants has been extremely rare for this team, even in winning seasons. there is no spark on this team and the pitching looks like it can only succeed if the offense is putting up 0-1 runs a ball game. the sad thing is that last season the giants would have made a run in the playoffs with little to no offense. instead, they got negative offense ie. double plays, swing and miss on 0-2's out of the zone, inability to get a run in with a runner on 3rd and < 2 outs, things kids from high school could have done better.... and this season, shockingly and to everyone's surprise they have that little offense to win ball games. they have not been shut out yet this season, as they have been shut out in over 10% of their ball games in the last two seasons. thats right, scoring 0 runs in over 10% of their games, that would be the same number of runs that you and i scored watching the games. but, the pitching has been as bad as the offense was last year. sooo, you are left with a team that either cant score runs, or cant get outs. where is the winning in that? i think its the new throwback uniforms being employed this season are reason for the bad play. i see the giants, padres, and rockies sporting these atrocious looking monstrosities, but why are the d-backs/ dodgers not being forced to wear the throwback uniforms? all in favor of some new uniforms say I.
