A cloud of apathy and sheer disdain has swooped its way over California???s state capital as neither the players, the front office, nor the fans of the Sacramento Kings give a damn anymore.  Not only are the Kings at the near bottom with the second worst record in the Western Conference, but it seems as if they will be heading yet again to Anaheim as talks to build a new arena have fallen apart.  Both team owners, Joe and Gavin Maloof, already have their sights set to ship the team away from the city and fans who have tirelessly supposed this team for more than thirty years.   Even when the Kings were at their worst during much of the eighties and early nineties, fans still filled up the rafters giving Sacramento one of the highest attendance rates in league history.  Now all of that seems to mean nothing as the Sacramento Kings may have probably played its final games in the place their have called home for nearly three decades.

It is almost tragic to witness such a team that has been loved by its fans for such a long time is forced to part ways because of petty barriers that makes it impossible for small market teams to thrive.  The Kings were fortunate enough to find a stupid and gullible Washington Wizards team willing to part with a future NBA Hall of Famer in Chris Webber for an aging and over the hill Mitch Richmond twelve years ago.  If it were not for that, the Kings would have never been able to attract so many other quality players and become the powerhouse it was for the much of the late nineties and the first five years of the 21st century.  They still would have remained a two bit team languishing in mediocrity between fellow league bottom feeders such as the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers.  Unfortunately, they now have to deal with the curse of having so much success that they cannot return to that point because the current environment does not allow them to remake that magic that they have lost.  So thus arrives the apathy that has ruined a once proud franchise and an attitude of no one giving a damn whether the team wins or loses.        (Click here to finish reading this post and so much more on JT's Hoops Blog)
