The Expert Fan

This is it folks. All of my personal research, internal debating, and (limited) knowledge has brought me to this, my final mock draft posting. There are some changes from the previous incarnation, and to keep it simple, those are marked in italics. I also only commented on the changed picks since by now you should know why I'm picking who I'm picking for those that have not changed.

I'll be making a separate post right after this detailing my final 2nd round picks, but as stated before, the 2nd round is just for fun and not included in the Challenge's final tally.

I am hoping to get the results posted Friday, but it may take me until Saturday to tabulate all of the results as I will be attending the Indianapolis Colts' draft party Friday night at Lucas Oil stadium.

If you want to know how I'm going to score myself and the experts I've chosen to go against this year, check out this link:

1. Indianapolis Colts - Andrew Luck, QB Stanford

2. Washington Redskins - Robert Griffin III, QB Baylor

3. Minnesota Vikings - Matt Kalil, OT USC

4. Cleveland Browns - Justin Blackmon, WR Oklahoma State

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Morris Claiborne, CB LSU

6. St. Louis Rams - Trent Richardson, RB Alabama

7. Jacksonville Jaguars - Melvin Ingram, DE South Carolina

8. Miami Dolphins - Ryan Tannehill, QB Texas A&M

9. Carolina Panthers - Fletcher Cox, DT Mississippi State

10. Buffalo Bills - Michael Floyd, WR Notre Dame

11. Kansas City Chiefs - Luke Kuechly, ILB Boston College

12. Seattle Seahawks - Riley Reiff, OT Iowa

13. Arizona Cardinals - David DeCastro, OG Stanford

14. Dallas Cowboys - Stephon Gilmore, CB South Carolina

With the re-signing of OLB Anthony Spencer, the Cowboys focus on another area of need - the defensive backfield.

15. Philadelphia Eagles - Mark Barron, S Alabama

16. New York Jets - Quinton Coples, OLB/DE North Carolina

Originally projected to go to Dallas at #14, Coples slides two picks down to Rex's team.

17. Cincinnati Bengals - Kendall Wright, WR Baylor

18. San Diego Chargers - Chandler Jones, OLB/DE Syracuse

I had Dontari Poe going here, but the Chargers can't pass on Jones. They can try to find depth at DT later.

19. Chicago Bears - Jonathan Martin, OT Stanford

20. Tennessee Titans - Michael Brockers, DT LSU

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Jerel Worthy, DT Michigan State

With Stephon Gilmore off the board to Dallas, the Bengals find an upgrade of Domata Peko.

22. Cleveland Browns - Cordy Glenn, OG Georgia

23. Detroit Lions - Courtney Upshaw, OLB/DE Alabama

I did have the Lions taking a RB here, but I just can't see three RBs going in the first round, and the Lions need help with an anemic pass rush.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers - Andre Branch, OLB Clemson

25. Denver Broncos - Dontari Poe, DT Memphis

Poe is a better fit in a pure 3-4 defense, but Denver runs a hybrid 3-4/4-3 so he would be a great value pick here.

26. Houston Texans - Dont'a Hightower, ILB Alabama

27. New England Patriots - Nick Perry, DE USC

28. Green Bay Packers - Shea McClellin, OLB Boise State

With the Packers insisting they are going to draft some help for Clay Matthews to get at the opposing teams' QBs, Mercilus is the best player left on the board to do that.

29. Baltimore Ravens - Coby Fleener, TE Stanford

30. San Francisco 49ers - Kevin Zeitler, OG Wisconsin

31. New England Patriots - RB Doug Martin, Boise State

Let's be honest, we're almost all sure the Pats will trade down with one of their picks, and this one is most likely to be it. But if they do keep it, they need replace BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

32. New York Giants - Kendall Reyes, DT UConn

They still want to draft Fleener here if he falls, but I don't see that happening. So they take the best DT left to help bolster their already-dominant pass rush.
