One can critique so many facets of Kevin Love???s game???his propensity to jack too many up shots in the perimeter instead of taking the ball in the paint and his less than stellar play on the defensive end to name a couple. One thing that remains for certain and cannot be argued, however; and that is that Kevin Love has certainly made his mark not only for his team and fans, but for the NBA and basketball in general.  It has been a long time that a white American basketball player has captured the hearts, minds and imagination of so many basketball fans and the sports media.  Never since Larry Bird has a white basketball player been idolized and scrutinized by the media and placed amongst the elite players in the league.  Sure, white players such as Dirk NowitzkiSteve Nash and Pau Gasol have been lighting it up in the NBA for years, but they were never home-grown and bred in the good old US of A as Kevin Love has.  After years of waiting patiently and eagerly, White America finally has a player that they can identify with and look up to that can compete in a league that has become more multicultural and less white with every passing game.

Forget about Lebron James being the man that saved the game as White America has already turned on him because of that ill-fated ???Decision??? or any other player for that matter.  It is because of Kevin Love that the media, primarily the White American Media, has taken a new shine to the NBA and thus the historic rise in ratings and viewership.  As long as Kevin Love remains in the media???s eye the league will continue to flourish to the chagrin of many of his peers and those who have followed the game for so long.  Forget about Minnesota winning an NBA title or even making the playoffs for that matter???none of that means anything because as long as the NBA has a media darling that can capture the hearts, minds and souls of its White viewers, they will continue to thrust the spotlight on Kevin Love whether he deserves it or not.  It is such a sad shame too because the same man that has helped catapult the game back into prominence may also be the same one that will destroy it later on as because of the inherent racism that propelled him to prominence in the first place.           (Click here to finish reading this post and so much more on JT's Hoops Blog)
