I hope the old saying that defense wins games is still true today, as the Patriots had 7 picks and selected 6 defensive player and 1 offensive player.

Three days and hundreds of picks later the NFL draft is over.

The Patriots traded up and traded down.  In the end the Patriots upgraded their horrible defense with 6 new defensive players and 1 offensive player.

With the 21st pick the Pats selected Chandler Jones  (DE) Syracuse, 25th pick was Dont'a Hightower (ILB) Alabama.

The Pats then selected Tavon Wilson, (S/CB) Illinois 48th overall. Jake Buquette (DE) Arkansas was next with the 90th pick.  Ohio State's Nate Ebner (S) went on the 197th pick and Alfonso Dennard (CB) Nebraska with the 224th.  The only offensive selection was Jeremy Ebert (WR) out of Northwestern with the 235th pick.

The Patriots don't usually trade up, so this was unusual for Bill Belichick.  I think the Pats did very well, based on the picks they had.

Congrats to QB Chandler Harnish "Mr Irrelevant".

IMO, this was the best draft ever by the Pats. I was truly surprised when they picked a WR. Guess there was something about this kid they thought they could work with.

It was once said that Belichick doesn't sign stars, he makes them. Good luck to the newest batch.

I guess BB saw something in Tavon Wilson that the draft experts and football scouts didn't. I felt that he could have gotten better value with that pick, but overall I'm pleased with the way the draft worked out for the Pats.
