Last year, Arkansas punted to Vanderbilt and the Vandy player called for a fair catch. Waving his arm twice, he ran three steps forward, got under the ball, and sustained a crippling hit from a Razorback running full speed. The Arkansas player who dealt the blow that caused a concussion and injured the Commodore claimed that he thought the player had already caught the ball. Even if he did not see the player's two overhead waves to call for a fair catch, he still hit his opponent helmet-to-helmet, so the hit was entirely indefensible. The officials ejected him from the game and he apologized...to the Arkansas fans and not to the player whom he injured intentionally. The Arkansas thug who made that play was a wide receiver named Marquel Wade. The news today, http://www.cnnsi.com/2012/football/ncaa/05/12/arkansas.football.arrests.ap/index.html?sct=cf_t2_a4 is that he and two others have been arrested for burglarizing dorm rooms and stealing $5,000 worth of computers and textbooks. The evidence is pretty strong - they have security camera footage showing them entering the rooms. This is a good test for Coach Smith. He has had four players arrested for burglary this year. Wade is supposed to be his best wide receiver, and he is charged with one felony count instead of nine, but he needs to go. Dismiss all four from the team, including Wade, and the off-the-field mischief will stop.
