09:00 AM ET  06.05 | So now after seeing my first game on July 7th 1967 I am hooked on the White sox and baseball in general.  I start reading the box scores every day to see what the Sox are doing i start following the other teams close by that year Red Sox-Tigers and Twins are all knotted up together in one of the tightest races in baseball history.  And it will stay that way till the last week of the season when the White Sox take in a series in Kansas City to play the A's.  They were to play that Monday night on the 26th but a heavy rain came in and washed out the game so now a double-header will be played on the 27th...known to us Sox fans as BLACK TUESDAY.  Both games will be on WGN TV with Jack Brickhouse calling both games WMAQ will call the games on radio with Bob Elson and Red Rush doing the call.  My father will get home from work early so as to not miss a pitch everybody is settled in to what will be the 2 biggest games of the year.  But what do the Sox do in both games...blow them both what else 5-2 and 4-0 then to make things worse they go and lose to the Washington Senators 3 more games gone they are dead no pennant for the White Sox the family is crushed but me being 5 years old not knowing any better at the time hear the Sox did win the pennant my father told me..."The wrong color sox won the pennant Timmy red not white.
