Look no further than team offensive and defensive stats. If you look at where ACC teams rank with respect to all other teams, you see a lot of one-dimensional teams. Good, but not great. What do I mean by that?
Good Offense
- Ga Tech
- Clemson
- Florida St
Good Defense
- Florida St
- Va Tech
- Miami
- Virginia
The only team with both offense and defense had a different problem - apparently a lack of discipline. I say that because despite being clearly the better team the Seminoles lost to Wake Forest and to Virginia. If not for those 2 losses the 'Noles would have won the ACC Atlantic division and possibly gone on to face West Virginia in the Orange Bowl in place of Clemson (who did not have a very good defense last year, and the Mountaineers proved).
