ACC Football just about hit rock bottom this past season. For starters, the same FCS team upset an ACC home team for the third time! There were a few good wins, but there were also some ugly losses. And to cap it all off, the ACC champion was embarrassed by the Big East champ in the Orange Bowl.
Part of the problem is simple offense and defense - nobody in the ACC outside of Florida State seemed able to play both. To make matters worse, nobody but the Seminoles seemed to be able to return kicks either.
Then there's the matter of discipline and mental toughness. If the ACC hopes to regain respect and play shoulder-to-shoulder with the SEC and other power conferences, lack of preparation and lack of effort must become a thing of the past.
