| It started in the summer of 2010, when the NBA went through their most anticipated off season. Three players at the top of their positions had a choice, take the money or sacrifice and create a contender. After multiple visits with different teams, Dwyane Wade was the first to announce his decision, ultimately staying with the team that drafted him 5th overall in the 2003 draft. Then moments later, Chris Bosh announced on ESPN that he would be "joining Mr. Wade in Miami". Two pieces were in place with one man left to sign. The whole world watched the next day as Lebron James made his decision. Jim Gray asked "Lebron, what is your decision?" , Lebron than uttered this unforgettable answer , "This is very tough. This fall I am going to be taking my talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat." Then there it was, the Miami Heat assembled the impossible by signing three of the biggest stars in the NBA. With all the hype and glory that came out of South Florida, came scrunity and hatred from the rest of the nation. Fans, analysts , and reporters all critiqued the way Lebron left Cleveland and how his legacy would have an asterisk because he teamed up with two other stars instead of winning a ring on his own in Cleveland. Flash Forward to the 2011 post season where the Heat went through one of the most ridiculed regular seasons in Sports History. Every loss was talked about with the constant saying " Can this work" or "Too much ego on this team; They will never get it done" Miami coasted through the first round by beating Philly in 5, then also took care of their rival Celtics in 5 games. Next on the list was the Chicago Bulls; a team that most analysts had beating the Heat in 6 or 7 games. But then again, the Miami Heat beat Chicago in 5 behind the play of Lebron James who started to prove the doubters wrong by coming up big in late game situations. The Heat were now four games away from accomplishing their goal they set out a summer ago. Miami played the Dallas Mavericks in what was set up to be Lebron's time to shine and finally win a championship. James came short along with the Heat, who lost in 6 games. After a summer of ridicule because of Lebron's short comings in the 4th quarter and the lockout, the Miami Heat finally regrouped. Miami added the veteran defensive minded three point shooter Shane Battier, which gave them depth behind Lebron and drafted Norris Cole, the Senior PG from Cleveland. The 2011-2012 compressed season was another strong one for Miami. They took their lumps and bruises from the media like the previous year but this was different. Lebron and the Heat were more focused heading into the post season. Lebron won his third MVP and he knew that the Heat could not fail. As a team they understood all the backlash would fall on the big three's head if they didn't win it all; especially with Coach Spoelstra, who would of been scapegoat number one with Bosh standing right behind him in line heading toward the exit door. The first opponent on the list was the rival New York Knicks. The Knicks had their own little Big three with Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire , and Tyson Chandler. New York and Miami fans have had bad blood since the late 90's . Now add that with James, not wanting to turn New York into title contenders and Amare calling out Miami during the off-season, you have yourself the most anticipated No.2 vs No.7 series in awhile. But the Heat made a mockery of all the Knicks, taking them out in 5 games. In Round 2, Miami played a tough series against the Indiana Pacers. If any fan wanted to point out a key moment during this run than look no further than this whole series. The Indiana Pacers tested the Heat mentally and physically. First started off when Indiana Pacers coach called out the refs for favoring Lebron and Wade, then Heat forward Chris Bosh pulled his abdominal muscle and was gone for the rest of the series. This meant that the Heat had to alter their whole rotation as their tallest big man was lost in a pivotal series because of the height advantage that Indiana already possessed. Miami won game 1 but lost the next two games. Knee Jerk reactions were already being summoned in result of Wade's erractic play and the Heat's bench players not showing up. But then again, Lebron and Wade were not having it as they took over the next three games scoring almost a combined 60 points a game. Indiana showed that they needed a superstar who could match Lebron and Wade's scoring and Miami once again headed to their second straight Eastern Conference Finals. The Eastern Conference Finals came with much anticipation in result of Lebron and Wade facing their demons once again against the Boston Celtics' Big 4. One of the reasons they came together was because these two just simply could not beat Boston by themselves. Miami and Boston both controlled their home court advantage splitting the first 4 games. Chris Bosh made his return in game 5 but that didn't matter as he only played 14 minutes and the Heat fell 94-90. Down 3-2 and on the brink of elimination, it was Lebron James who took matters in his own hands. Game 6 went down as Lebron James' game as he went 19 for 26, scoring 45 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists. Heat won and forced a game 7 at home. In game 7, the Heat proved to be too much in the 2nd half as they took over in the 4th quarter capturing their second straight Eastern Conference Finals. But this year was different; their was no big celebration of bouncing the Celtics out, no jumping up and down, and no talk of how the Celtics were the team to beat. It was just a mindset of another good team win and now lets move forward to the Finals. Back to the finals they went, this time the opponent was Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The star player and team that the rest of the nation was rooting for. The Thunder was the anti-Heat. No celebrations, no big signings, no big controversy (except the move from Seattle), and no guarantees. Everything the Thunder did compared to the Heat was right in the eyes of the general public. This team was grown from inside, developed, and coached well. They had a star player who wanted to be the face of the franchise who drafted him. The same star player who said he loves the small market of Oklahoma City with a vow that he wont leave by signing his 5 year extension. The 3 time Scoring Champ vs the 3 time MVP. In the most anticipated Finals since LA vs Boston in 08, the Finals gave us the fans everything we wanted and more. This year's championship was fast paced, athletic, and most importantly exciting. Every game came down to the wire , as both the Heat and Thunder blew big leads resulting in the other team capturing momentum. But one Big three proved to over match the other. The Thunder couldn't find a match for Lebron. Durant wasn't able to defend him, Sefolosha was too short, and Harden was simply over matched. Yes, the Thunder won Game 1, and yes they were always competitive in every game besides Game 5 but they simply ran into the stronger team. It's a make or miss league and Miami made the shots that Oklahoma could not counter back with. Lebron James finally was able to answer every question and doubt that was thrown at him by averaging near 30 points and near 7 boards. He hit big shots in the final minutes and finally made his free throws when they mattered. James defended every position on the court and made their times not pleasurable. With Wade, Bosh, Battier, Chalmers and Miller all contributing, it just made Oklahoma City seem human after they just dismantled the West. Miami captured their 2nd championship by beating the Thunder 121-106. The big 3 accomplished their goal that was set out when they all signed in Miami. They made people like Skip Bayless, John Berry, Stephen A Smith, Bill Simmons, Jason Whitlock, Ric Bucher and more eat all their words they said. No more "They'll never get it done", "This was a failure", "Lebron will never win a ring" , "Miami Heat's supporting cast will fail them", or "Fire Spoelstra if they want to win a title". The jokes are gone, the pressure is off; Miami is finally champion of the basketball world. Now there will always be those that question Lebron's legacy and how he got it done. They will never question Wade because he got one with out Lebron and Bosh will never get questioned because simply he is not at superstar status in majorities eyes. But this is about Lebron because he did it His Way. Not the media's way, not the fans way, not the Kobe, Magic, Jordan or Bird way. Many forget that before Kobe won his 4th and 5th title after he was asking to be traded because he needed more help and he had in my opinion the best center in NBA history, Shaquille O'Neal when he won 1 through 3. Magic was drafted to a team with arguably the best center in the 80's era. Bird had Mchale and Parrish; Michael Jordan had Pippen and Rodman. Yes Lebron didn't do it with the team that drafted him but his hand was forced. Cleveland never was able to acquire a talent that could be Lebron's second hand man. Lets face it, his best teammates were Jaminson and Mo Williams. Bosh, Wade, CP3, Deron Williams or Dwight Howard was not walking through the doors of the Quiken Loans arena in a Cavs jersey. This league is too great with talent to have one great talent and a good supporting cast. Derrick Rose will soon realize this sooner or later. And to those that are still mad about Lebron quitting on the Cavs, did we forget that Michael Jordan quit on Chicago for two years to play baseball. Yes his father did die, and yes his father wanted him to play baseball, but as a fan you have to feel cheated of what could of been 8 years of championships. Jordan was still in his prime when he "quit" the game and the city that loved him. It's time to stop hating the best player in the world who hasn't killed no one, hasn't raped no one, has never asked for a trade, never made the team fire the GM and coach, never went to jail, and is a role model to our kids. One negative in man's life should not reflect what he is doing on and off the court. The "Decision" can be ridiculed all it wants but don't forget it raised over 2 million for the Boys and Girls club. Maybe if we as a society, stop hating on Lebron so much, everyone can grace one of the best players to ever touch a basketball. Dueces
