It was a busy day in sports with two blockbuster trades in both hockey and baseball that saw two star players go to the Big Apple.
Let's start with the hockey.
With much speculation over the past six months or more, Columbus have finally parted ways with Rick Nash, trading him to the New York Rangers in exchange for Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisinov, Tim Erixon, and a first-round pick for 2013.
Boston has signed head coach, Claude Julien to a multi-year contract extension.
Montreal has signed first-round pick, Alex Galchenyuk to a three-year, entry-level.
Ottawa has signed Kaspers Daugavins to a one-year, $635,000 contract.
Nashville has signed Sergei Kostitsyn to a two-year, $6 million contract.
Winnipeg has signed Maxime Macenauer to a new contract.
Edmonton have signed first-round pick, Nail Yakupov to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Florida has signed Kris Versteeg to four-year, $17.6 million contract.
Washington has added Tim Hunter to their coaching staff.
There were two big trades in baseball yesterday too. Let's start with the biggest one. As of yesterday afternoon, Ichiro Suzuki is no longer a Mariner, where he made his Major League debut several years ago. He was sent to the New York Yankees in exchange for right-handers, D.J. Mitchell and Danny Farquhar.
Miami traded Omar Infante, Anibal Sanchez to Detroit in exchange for Jacob Turner, Rob Brantly, and Brian Flynn.
Finally, the Blue Jays were off last night, but I did catch the Pittsburgh/Chicago Cubs game. The Cubs won 2-0.

I don`t like it either, but it just goes to show that the rich teams like the Yankees always get the best players because they have the money to spend.
