It's Thursday night here in the marble capital of the world, and I've built up a decent sized buzz, and I think it's about time for another DP&S post. It's been a minute since the last one.
No real theme here. Just gonna post my 7 favorite songs of all time. Hope you like em, if you don't, sounds like a personal problem to me.
Not gonna type much more. Not gonna type a song description. All I want is for someone to listen, and if one person likes it, I'll consider it a success.
Note- My favorite song is Family Tradition, everyone has heard it, so I'll hold off, so this is pretty much my 2-8 favorite songs.
But, whether you like it or not, I would appreciate some feedback.
1- Waylon Jennings- Lonesome, On'ry and Mean
2- Hank Williams Sr- I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry
3- Nitty Gritty Dirt Band- Modern Day Romance
4- Merle Haggard- Branded Man
5- Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakam- Streets of Bakersfield
6- Waylon Jennings- Ain't Livin Long Like This
7- Keith Whitley- I'm No Stranger to the Rain

I like countless songs, it was hard narrowing it down to 7(well, 8), If I were to post next week, it would probably look drastically different. I have a photogenic memory when it comes to songs. If I hear it once, and I like it, I can sing it basically word for word even years after I heard it, and I've heard nearly every country song ever recorded. It creates a log jam.

Outlaw, some great options there. I've always been a fan of Keith Whitley and the short ride that he had (but it's great for the memories).
I kinda laughed at the NGDB in this group cuz they're definitely a different breed from most in your choices. Not that's it's a bad choice though.
Dwight and Buck doin Bakersfield is great just because I appreciated Dwight giving Buck the nod to join him on a song made famous by Buck. That's just class.
I was listeining to Outlaw Country on Sirius the other day and I heard them play some Jerry Jeff Walker. Just love Jerry though; almost anything by him but two of my very favorites are "Hill Country Rain" and "LA Freeway". Got introduced to his music while in high school by the Chef at the restaurant that I worked at. Grateful for that.
On a new country note, Bucky Covington just teamed up with Shooter Jennings on a single called "Drinking Side of Country". Pretty good.

Oh, yeah, I didn't mention your recognition of Waylon, Merle or Sr but then I really didn't think it was necessary.

I'm a big Jerry Jeff fan. He had a couple songs on the fringe of this list. Jaded Lover and Pissin in the Wind.
And I'll have to give Shooter and Bucky a listen.

The first song really really reminds me of a Jason Aldean song.

Don't know why I didn't recognize the NGDB song by the title. Just gave it a listen here at home and I always did like that one. Kinda similar to Dan Fogelberg's Same Auld Lang Syne or Harry Chapin's Taxi.
Found Jaded Lover. Thanks for telling me about that. He's got such a great unique sound about him.

He's got some great stuff. I first heard about him 20 yrs back when his kid started recording (Shaver) and had dad guest in some videos.

great list as always Outlaw, can't fault a single pick. expand it to 10 tho and Sunday Morning Coming Down would have to be included. I know Kris can't sing but he had a knack for lyrics that just stuck in your head. besides, you could always use Johnny's version
