There was an upset in Olympic swimming last night in London. Not because Ryan Lohte of Team USA won the gold medal in Men's 400m Individual Medley, but because his teammate, Michael Phelps, who is considered the best swimmer in the world, didn't make the podium. He came in fourth place. Thiago Pereira of Brazil won silver and Kosuke Hagino of Japan won bronze.
On the Canadian side of the things, Our women's soccer team beat South Africa 3-0, Joshua Binstock and Martin Reader won their first beach volleyball match against Great Britain 2-0 (21-19, 21-13).
Now on to some baseball.
My Blue Jays won again yesterday, beating Detroit 5-1.
I also caught some of the Pittsburgh/Houston game last night. The Pirates won 4-3.
Some baseball news to pass along.
San Diego has signed Huston Street to a two-year, $14 million contract extension with a club option for 2015.
The Chicago White Sox have acquired left-hander Francisco Liriano in exchange for Eduardo Escobar and Minor League pitcher Pedro Hernandez.
Kansas City's Mike Moustatas left yesterday's game against Seattle in the second inning with a sprained right knee.
Finally, Robert Garrus leads the RBC Canadian Open by one stroke (-16) after three rounds.

A Silver in the 4x400 relay. Glad he was able to contribute to the team and maybe shake off that Gold medal loss to Lochte.
